I currently have a GFL that I received 2 or 3 years ago when I went to UGA, but I live in SC now. Is it legal for me to carry with the GFL in GA even though I'm a SC resident with SC DL now? I've seen some posts that state that it's legal but I cannot find anything in the code to state if its legal or illegal.

    Thanks,
    Timothy

Don't know about the legality of the GFL...

...but I don't think I would be comfortable doing it. :ianal: :handcuffs: :jail:

I'm assuming you have a SC permit. Of course, there's no reciprocity with GA, but for $20 or so and the cost of a stamp, you can get (in something like 14 days or less) a NH permit that GA does recognize .

Unfortunately for us GA boys, the reverse does not work. :x

It is found in a small part of 16-11-129(a)
    http://www.legis.ga.gov/legis/GaCode/?t ... ection=129

I didn't even notice it the first few time I read it.

Yes, the GFL is valid no matter where you move to, until it expires or you do something bad and they revoke it. Though if you do move outside of Georgia, you cannot renew the GFL when it does expire (so before it expires, get a reciprocal permit from somewhere like NH or Florida).
