Pretty basic question - how do you feel about orange (and black) as a paint color on a vehicle?

    Examples:

This is a very custom paint job:

Local auto store has this stuff on clearance for like $5.99 (normally runs about $30.00):

Actually, I do. There are certain cars that it looks great on, others, not so much.

I thought the tan color would look neat, but now its kind of getting "meh..." for me. I guess because I don't actually drive it in the desert the color seems kind of out of place and not as "sporty" as I would like.

Well here is a picture of a stock buggy that comes in orange:

Course mine has changed drastically from stock, but same general idea.

I personally think it'd look great on the buggy. But, then again, so would 'Nam era tigerstripe camo too. Do it. Doooo eeeeet!

I like orange cars. The buggy would probably look pretty good, depending on how the color took.

I think I would like to spray the orange myself then actually have a local paint place do a nice thick clear coat on it.

if you can spray the base you can spray the clear...and you dont want thick clear you really only want 2-3 coats at the most...honestly if you arent doing a metallic id buy a single stage and spray the buggy wth it

Yea - I think I want a single stage type, no metallic.

Matter of fact DuraCoat has just the color that would work, then a clear gloss layer on top.

The reason I like the idea of a pro shop doing the clear is they have the tools and know-how for the after-prep work, like polishing compound and waxing. I don't really have a high speed piece of equipment to get that detail out of it.

I dunno, just mulling the idea over.

Hell since its only a few select panels on the buggy, if it only cost a couple hundred bucks to have the paint shop actually mask and paint it from start to end - in the interest of saving time I may go that route.

Anyone have any recommendations who I should visit in the Augusta area for paint and body?

    Those look awesome.

We might get a second one in a year or two, a four [s:3hvcyyth]door[/s:3hvcyyth] seat version - I think I would do camo on that for sure.

    Family road trip anyone? :righton:

I wonder what an urban camo would look like.

Paladin, I wonder if you get a moment, could you PS on this rim (it would be 18" so the rubber would be thinner by about 4") ?

(just straight black, no accent stripe)
