Olbermann is a tool. From what I understand, his ratings were in the tank. I have a hard time believing that NBC gives a rat's flying patootie whether its people make dem political contributions, but it makes a handy excuse.

Hope they never get rid of Rachel Madow (a frequent contributor to Kieth O.)

Watching her once in a while helps galvanize my political will against lefties.

Currently in denial about it, but she may run against Scott Brown in 2012

She's had quite a career, from yard maintenance, PhD, to radio and TV.

Her partner uses cheap cameras to take pictures of refineries and displays them as art in museums all over the country. To great adoration !

    It's a great country !

I won't agree or disagree that she stays - I could care less. However, I love to watch her show and compare her to O'Riley and Hannity. I just can't see how someone is so far left of everything.

When I was in D.C. earlier this week, I watched his horrible show on MSNBC. He was practically crying, asking "How bad is it actually going to be? (on Mon night)"
I don't like him but his political donations are a form of free speech and it's a strange policy, especially considering MSNBC is a leftist news channel -- why would they care?

I doubt Fox News will rush in to pick him up like Juan Williams though. Maybe ESPN will want him back . . . hope not.

This. Olberman is a first class tool. I"m sure they were just looking for an excuse with his latest ratings. I'm glad to see him go, to be honest.

On the other hand, though, he probably turned more people to the middle or to a more right position with all his looney leftist babble.

What I find hard to believe is how Olberman, Maddow, and the other MSNBC people complain about how far to the right the people on Fox are. Do they not realize that they are the same thing, except extremely to the left? Olberman has also been qouted in the past complaining about how Rupert Murdoch making contributions to Republicans, doesn't he know that their parent company, GE, has supported many democrats? I think that all around the commentators on most news networks are very hypocritical of their competitors.

That's the thing, I've spoken with people like this; socialists, avowed communists, and such. In their world view they see themselves as centrists. The compare themselves to the other leftists, PETA sympathizers, alien abductees, and think 'ok, I'm not That wacky."
A few of them have even taken one or two of the left-right-center political quizzes you can find online and when confronted with the results that show them far, far to the left they say "oh, that test is just skewed, I'm a Centrist!"

All extremist views probably require a certain blindness to other views, but that doesn't make all extremist views equally valid.

out of curiosity, does anyone know if Olberman was a constituency to any of the politicians he donated to?

Ummmm.... I guess you don't know about political campaign donor lists being public info that is published on the Internet.

Indeed. I've seen a conservative and a liberal in a room arguing about media bias, not realizing that their preferred news sources, Fox and MSNBC, are mirrored copies of each other. I suggested they watch both to help filter out the BS, but neither of them took it very kindly. :shattered:

Yes! There is a God and he is on our side!

If there ever was a piece of scum spewing Socialist propaganda media whore, Olberman is the poster child.
I intend to live longer than him just so I can dance on his grave. [IMG]

This whole thing really does not make much sense. It may have been a publicity stunt to drive his ratings.

Suspended on Friday, goes back to work on Tuesday. And I suspect he doesn't punch a time clock so that's a loss of nearly 1% of his salary (give or take).
