What is YOUR opinion on the new Immigration bill (Amnesty) being sold?

No amnesty!!! If someone is here ilegally, they should be sent back to their own country, and not allowed back in here, period, the end. There are legal channels for people that want to move here from other counrties. If they dont want to follow those laws, I have have to question what other laws they will ignore. Come here legally, learn the language, become a productive, tax paying member of our society, or stay the **** out !!!

This was a silly poll. Why did you bother with more than one option?

1) build a wall 20' high & 10' wide from the Gulf to the Pacific
2) once done, have a huge publicity campaign (in spanish) advising that all illegals have 2 months to liquidate any & all assets as best they can & cross the border. No questions asked by US officials.
3) anyone attempting to illegally cross the wall.... shoot first ask questions later. Sorry amigo.
4) After that 2 month date any in the US illegally has all possessions confiscated and is placed in jail until such time as they can be relocated to the other side of the nearest border.
5) implement a new expedited work visa plan so that anyone who wants to work in the US can quickly & easily apply for the visa & work here. BUT, you don't get to vote, you pay taxes, you must report your location at all times, you can not own property, you get limited healthcare (part of what your taxes will go towards), your children born in the US are NOT US citizens (no more anchor babies) and you can only remain in the US for a limited time on this visa (though you can quickly reapply for a renewal). You can be working towards permanent citizenship while on the visa. If you have any serious criminal record you get can't get the visa. If you break any serious laws in the US while on a visa it's revoked and you can NEVER get another or apply for US citizenship.
6) English is to become the official US language. You MUST learn or be working towards learning English if you are here on the migrant worker visa. All official US business is conducted in English.
7) Kalifornia is detached from the North American continent via a chain of explosions planted in the various fault lines & allowed to float out to sea. We kick the state out of the Union and send all the Libtards to live there free of guns & with all the lack of common sense they want.

For a group of people who advocate strictly following the Constitution, it seems many of us forget that the 14th amendment states that anyone born here is a citizen. :wink:

Bound to be strong opinions on this one. However, taking the emotions out of it, one fact remains:

WE'RE NEVER GOING TO GET THE ILLEGAL ALIENS TO LEAVE!

That being said, let's find a way to get them to pay something to be here and to pay taxes, social security, etc. Regardless of which side of the argument you're on, today they get all of the benefits of citizenship without any of the financial burdens.

By the anchor baby law you mean the 14th Amendment?

Should I be devil's advocate again on this subject? :) oh...why not....

What is wrong with this? Most, if not all, major concerns are being addressed. They have to pay into the system. They have to wait in line behind people who went the legal way to get a green card. They have to leave the country for one year. They have to learn English.

I don't support Illegal invaders....Build the damn fence secure and secure the boarder.

Now i realize we can just pick them up and boot them out...well not yet....but if someone is arrested and their citizen ship is no legal take them the other side of the wall and let them out...

It make me F'n sick that these illegals are getting almost free if not free health care and medicine while my grandparents have to pay $700 a month in supplemental insurance to cover what medicare does, and F'n illegals get the sh!t for almost free....What the hell is wrong with this country Illegals get better care than out Veterans, senior citizens etc....

WASHINGTON â€" Capping months of back-room talks, a bipartisan group of senators reached agreement today on a deal that would benefit millions of illegal immigrants, reorder the U.S. legal immigration system and toughen border security.

The deal, struck by about 10 Democrats and Republicans working with the Bush administration, heads to the Senate floor next week.

While negotiators expressed optimism that it would garner widespread support from both Democrats and Republicans, immigrant-rights groups, labor unions, business and other interests have expressed concern about different aspects of the sprawling legislation. And conservatives are sure to be hammered with complaints from their base that any deal legalizing illegal immigrants is tantamount to amnesty.

In the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., made no commitments to embrace the Senate deal, which differs in many ways from the leading bill the House intends to take up in July.

The Senate deal would:

• Grant the nation's estimated 12 million illegal immigrants legal status with an indefinitely renewable "Z" visa, and allow many to eventually apply for citizenship. They would have to pay $5,000 in fines to get the visa, and those seeking legal permanent residence would have to return to their home country to apply.

• Establish a temporary worker program admitting 400,000 workers yearly for a two-year visa after which they world be required to return home for a year and then re-apply. The vast majority of the temporary workers would not be eligible to stay in the U.S. permanently.

• Add 6,000 more Border Patrol agents, establish an employment verification system mandatory for employers to check the status of new hires, and toughen interior enforcement.

• Tip the legal immigration system more towards rewarding high-skilled, educated immigrants, though it also would continue to allow U.S. residents to bring in relatives, though on a more limited basis.

Though the negotiators expressed confidence that their deal would be widely approved, there were signs that the agreement isn't universally admired.

Three of the negotiators â€" Texas Republicans Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn and New Jersey Democrat Robert Menendez â€" were not on stage when the deal was announced.

Speaking before the deal was struck, Hutchison said her support was contingent on reading the entire bill, which has yet to be fully written. "It's going to be very important to me to have the written word to see exactly what is in the bill," she said.

Cornyn, who battled Democrats to stiffen enforcement, voiced displeasure today with the broad outlines of the deal.

The reality is, they're already here. More are coming every day. I don't have a solution.

As long as our president and congress aren't willing to act, to do something, it's not gonna change.

Some people don't want them to leave (note statement above about president and congress) and those people are blocking true reform efforts. Until those people change, nothing else will change.

I second that...Did ya know that most of our local Hospitals are on the brink of financial hardship because they HAVE to pay for the illegals healthcare... :banghead:

I have a friend who has to pay increased insurance rates because he filed a claim for an accident that totalled his new car. Why did he file a claim? The a**hole that hit him was DUI, illegal, no license and no insurance. Now my friends rates went up 20%!!! We all pay higher prices for insurance due to illegal, uninsured drivers.

Let me start by saying this: My wife is not from this country. We are *still* in the process of going through all the headaches, paperwork, money, and redtape to finish it up legally.

It is a pain in the arse.

That said...I am STILL against this amnesty stuff. Kick 'em out. Shoot 'em if they try to sneak in again. Period.

I would like it to be a bit *easier* for those of us working within the system to do so, however.

Secure the borders and ports first, then impose stiff fines for employers that employ people in the country illegally. No bail for illegals arrested by state/local officer, and any such illegals arrested should be delivered to federal deportation centers in each state.

I'll stay out of this one after this post, as my views on those of Hispanic origin are less than pleasant... it's my one true prejudice (Hey, I grew up in Gainesville, I have an excuse)

What I don't understand is why it's so hard to legally emigrate to this country. My great-grandparents were poor Irish potato farmers who somehow managed to do it legally.



Of course, I'm reminded of Rocco's joke from The Boondock Saints... "I'll have a Coke!"

No immigration policy will work as long as our borders are wide open. Our Southern border especially needs a fence, wall, moat, citizen militias, spotlights, dogs I dunno, maybe some minefields :-k

Then, once anyone is pulled over for a traffic violation or anything other reason, are found to be illegal, they get shipped back free of charge to their country of origin. Then, they can either join the millions who will do it the legal way, or deal with the minefields and attack helicopters.

I say we treat illegal immigration like an invasion. That's really what it is. And we need to streamline the process for legal immigration.

Too bad nothing will get done. Everything the government touches recently has become a steaming, mismanaged turd. ](*,)

Its not hard. My wife is a legal immigrant from Vietnam. Alot of paper work for sure, and interviews with immigration offcials, but not impossible. Only had to wait a year and a half before she got a visa to come over. Once she came over it was alot easier to get her permanent residence status (green card) than it was to get a visa.

absolutely no reason why the illegal invaders can't be sent home and subject to the same process.
