So, I went to Walmart to buy an HDTV and was OC the whole time. I was standing there, looking at the TVs, when I hear, "Excuse me, sir. Do you have a minute?" I turned around and there was a member of the Statesboro PD, full uniform.

I reached towards my wallet to get my GFL and said, "Yeah, my permit's in here. Just a sec."

He said, "Permit? Oh, you mean for the gun. I don't care about that. I had a question about the TV and I was wondering if you knew anything about them."

I laughed, he laughed, and we had a good 15 minute conversation about HDTVs, guns, and carry laws.

HAHA, awesome. Did you talk to him about laws and OC in general? What exactly (law-related) did you talk to him about?
I asked what his opinion on OC was, he said he wouldn't do it because of the tactical advantage. He also suggested that I not do it in case of a gung-ho anti-gun cop. I told him I'll take my chances.

He also agreed that the PG nonsense was just that.

What? Tactical advantage by CC? I said that a while back and was mocked. :rotfl:
I don't see any tactical advantage to it.

To each his own. You carry concealed, I'll carry openly (most places).

Go Statesboro PD!

The quote above could be your new signature line.

The best part was that later on in the conversation, I asked him why he "wasn't worried" about my permit.

He said, "Well, I figured anyone who would do something as ballsy as carry a big gun so obviously knows he's not doing anything wrong. Besides, criminals don't carry openly, and I'd imagine if you didn't have a permit, you'd be concealing so you didn't draw attention to yourself."

Yes, I got his name, and yes, I made a nice phone call to the chief this morning commending him on the outstanding training and behavior of his officers.

Then he was probably chewed out this afternoon for failing to perform a felony stop.

It was 8:00 p.m., so I assumed he was off-duty and was going home after work, and hadn't changed clothes.

yeah, I know, "assumed" but I don't think he would have been browsing on duty, either.

Nothing like getting a guy fired for being nice to you.
:(

I hope not.

I figured that if I can get upset and call the chief when an officer does something stupid, then I can call the chief when somebody does something right, too.
