This is very interesting. I want to know more............

President Obama delivered a 10-minute-long inaudible and untelevised speech on gun control Thursday, addressing the politically volatile topic from behind the closed doors of the Oval Office, where nobody could see or hear him.
What do you mean "accidentally"? Are you suggesting that the Rs won't read the bills either?EJR914 said::lol: You really do have to love the Onion. It does stand to reason that Obama and the Dems will probably not get anything passed as for as gun control in the next 2 years. (unless the sneak it in to a unrelated bill, and Republicans accidentally vote yes on it) I mean just look at the shenanigans that passed the 1986 MG ban.
Won't read the bills or will not stop shenanigans if they begin. I don't really trust either side to read the bills anymore.JiG said:What do you mean "accidentally"? I don't think that much matters... I was told last election that the R's would have their feet held to the fire. It's up to those that voted for them to read the bills and convince the Rs to do the right thing.EJR914 said:Won't read the bills or will not stop shenanigans if they begin. :goodpost:EJR914 said:It really bothers me that so many "conservatives" act like Reagan was the best thing since sliced bread.
He signed one of the most anti-2nd amendment legislation to ever exist.
Maybe because we had just lived through Carter. On the whole Reagan was a good President. The story of the FOPA and the MG amendment was not his finest moment, but you need to understand there is plenty of blame to go around. The NRA pushed that bill hard. They didn't care about the poison pill and would have given anything to get it passed. The truth is that stamp collectors were a small minority of firearms owners at the time. $200 was serious money in 1986. Not as much as 1934 but still a lot of money. Its easy to grouse about the MG ban, but on the whole FOPA has been a good law. It could be better, but most folks don't remember that there was a question on whether or not it was even legal to take a handgun out of state before the law passed. Do you really think that if Reagan hadn't signed that bill that it wouldn't have been included in the AWB :?:Glocker said::goodpost:EJR914 said:It really bothers me that so many "conservatives" act like Reagan was the best thing since sliced bread.

I think Reagan is way overrated as a President. I don't understand why so many people think he was so awesome. :?
That sure has a lot to do with, but Reagan was as charismatic as Carter wasn't. People naturally followed him. Another 4 years of Carter and we probably wouldn't be here today.ber950 said:Maybe because we had just lived through Carter.
