Obama’s poll numbers on the rise, to opponents’ dismay

The last 10 national polls conducted on the question show marked improvement. CNN puts him at 53 percent favorable, 45 percent unfavorable, compared to 48/48 a month ago. Washington Post/ABC puts him at 54/43, compared to 49/47 a month ago. Gallup’s daily tracking poll puts him at 49/43, which is about where he was in May. McClatchy has it at 48/43, compared to 43/50 in early December.

Obama's poll numbers are up, just as Clinton's did after the Republicans took back some of the Congress, and especially after the OKC bombing.

It appears the way he handled the Gifford shooting and brought the country back together with his speech, (It was a good speech by the way) and the fact that the Republicans now have the House, HAS boosted Obama's poll numbers. If this continues to happen, I don't see any reason why Obama may not be re-elected. If the Republicans do not get their act together and put a candidate that is worth a darn up against Obama, we may see him as president in 2012.

I have feared this for a while now, and warned about it, but seeing Obama's poll numbers rise after the shooting, and after the Republican win are just confirmation. The Republicans need to get their act together. We do NOT want to see another Obama presidency for 4 years. I don't even want to know what 4 more years of his administration would look like to our foreign policy and even Socialist moves and laws passed within our country. I just feel he is slightly too radical for the moderation of the America people.

I really hope the Republicans get their act together, and I'm not talking about putting up another dead elephant, RINO up against Obama in 2012.

I wouldn't worry about the Republicans. They're as bad as the Democrats. The best thing we can hope for in the next election is not that Obama is defeated, but that there is a split between the Senate and the president. That way when a Supreme Court nominee comes up, they have to work together and not just pick an extremist either way.

How are you here making so much sense? This just doesn't seem right...
I'm always in favor of party division in the executive and legislative branches. Seems when either party has carte blanche to pass anything they want we end up in worse shape. At least with a division they have to talk about it before blindly putting laws into effect.
True, dcannon1. I keep hearing about how the country wants them to work together. No we don't!!! Gridlock is (usually) wonderful.

Very good point, bdee.

I see everyone is mostly like me, the most we can hope for is complete gridlock of our federal government.

There is probably less of a one in one million dollar chance that Americans will actually wake up and vote in real men of women of principle who will right our country with libertarian principles and ideals.

Also, even if that did happen, what is to stop those same elected officials to become just as corrupt and hopeless as the current batch of national criminals. After all, special interest, big business, power, and money are at the root of all of these problems.

I believe you could probably send the best people in this country to our National government, and they would come out just as dirty as anyone given a few terms in Congress or in the Executive Branch.

So I'm assuming any hope of a real Restoration is all but impossible. :(

Honestly, if his numbers go up and he gets reelected because of that pep rally in Tucson, then this country has NO HOPE. Either I'm cynical or people are fickle. Prolly both.
Gridlock is exactly what "they" are looking for...another "do nothing" congress.
I guess, then, that makes me one of 'them.'
