Yep, that column is right-on. The Hydra analogy is appropriate.

20 years ago when I had an unrestricted NY State issued carry license, there were virtually NO places Off-Limits. At least by written law. The issuing authorities-- County Clerk-- could revoke or restrict your permit at any time if they found out you carried someplace they didn't think was appropriate, but there was no list of off-limits locations. Except, I think, bars and nightclubs. I think they told me that when I got my license in Erie County, NY. But that wasn't based on any law-- just the whims of the Clerk, or maybe it was based on some "recommendation" from a County Clerk's Union or professional association.

Anyhow, in NY my NY permit allowed me much more freedom to carry in more places than I had been able to in Georgia during the same era, of the 1990s.

Now the roles are reversing. Georgia's got few victim disarmament zones, and NY has just passed a law that will have many, impacting most people in their daily lives.

Good discussion of the decision by someone who knows a lot about these things.

So gun owners in states that violated some people's civil rights will now have theirs violated too. Not much sympathy here.

So, petty tyrants have decided that when the Supreme Court declares that the 2nd Amendment means (and has always meant) the right to carry a gun out in public while doing ones ordinary business and personal errands,

these Little Dictators can eviscerate that right by declaring most of the spaces outside of one's home to be off-limits-- and a crime for even licensed individuals to carry there.

What needs to happen is for law enforcement to inform these tyrant politicians that they will not enforce their infringement laws against citizens peacefully exercising their Second Amendment Rights.

No. All that means is when the next batch of politically motivated prosecutors come into office, these people get prosecuted with the maximum possible charges. Selective enforcement cuts both ways. See how the Jan 6 folks vs. Colbert's Crew are treated if you don't believe me.

I am glad to see the laws being applied uniformly and equally. That is how political consequences happen. People see common interests, form coalitions, and enact change via the ballot box.

Another article on the same subject, but sounding a little more panicky:

“Certainly, the usefulness of serial numbers in solving gun crimes makes Section 922(k) desirable for our society. But the Supreme Court no longer permits such an analysis,” Goodwin wrote. “Under Bruen, I am limited to considering whether Section 922(k) is ‘consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.’”
