Radicalized Muslim terrorist guy rents truck and drives down bike path killing about 8 and injuring about a dozen. Gets out of truck after ramming school bus with a BB or pellet guns or similar.
The first guy to stop him from what he was doing was the good guy with a gun. This instance a cop.
Were CCW reasonably acquirable in NYC it could easily have been Joe Decent citizen.
And one good guy with a G19 and a few extra mags could have stopped the whole thing. Imagine the news reporting the driver had gunshot wounds to the head. How different would our country be if we could stop these attacks by fighting back instead of cowering in a city or statewide gun free zone.
Be careful what you wish for. Preposterous ideas may one day have us all wearing explosive collars or heart plugs like in Dune.
We've gotten so far away from the concept of watching our own and each other's backs that in areas like NYC where self defense is basically outlawed, the simple and most obvious solutions cannot even be considered.
So, I just read that the cop fired 9 rounds at the truck driver, and hit him once in the abdomen. Where did the other rounds hit?
It also mentioned a civilian who had tried to tackle the driver, and then kicked the guns out of his hands after he was shot by police and laying on the ground.

I was telling some friends the exact same thing about ccw permits and while its probably good he was taken alive I know several carry permit holders that would have cut him in half with 9 rounds.
