Sadly, many professional athletes have taken to carrying registered concealed weapons to protect themselves. The Boston Globe quoted New England wideout Jabar Gaffney with saying 90 percent of NFL players carry guns. The paper showed photos of 42 NFL players who had licensed weapons in cities where the registrations are public record. Forty are black.

Dr. King thought of nonviolence as an instrument for social change . . .

If 90% of all NFL atheletes carried guns, then a good portion of them would be in violation of state or federal law... considering a lot of them live in gun-unfreindly states or are convicted felons/wife-beaters.

Using Dr. King comparing anything is a poor example to professional atheletes. They are so far removed from any sort of civil rights as to be irrelevant. Might as well discuss ICE-T and his impact on civil rights.

In that article, black atheletes are treated as a specific sub-group when it should be any person under fear for their lives. This article makes no sense to me.
