Good news for those renewing in Newton County. My GFL expired 13 months ago, but the probate court said that as long as I lived at the same address, all I had to do was renew - $15 to them, $5 to the sheriff's office for fingerprinting. Very efficient on both ends. Super nice people. Tim Brubaker
Are there any time requirements for renewal so that 13 months would be outside the time? I know my county made me do it all over again because more than thirty days had passed, but the only place I could find that time limit was in the temporary renewal license section at the end of 129.
No official time limit at all, it is at the Judge's discretion. The Judge could make you do the full fingerprinting if you renew before your permit expires, when it expires, 1 month after, 3 months, a year, or more. Many go by either 1 month or 3 months after expiration.
Maybe we could buy it and run our own damn prints. It starts at 100$. Looks like a freaking old-school Tandy though.
It's that time of decade again and this time since we only had about 10 days left on our permits, the wife and I got the tempy permits for $1.00. Fingerprinted (analog) right there in the Probate Clerk's office. Off to NCSD for the digital prints. Five years ago, it took two weeks for the renewal...stay tuned.
Working on post count Tim? I mean yes you joined the same year as MP, but you are going to have to step it up to reach 35,000 like him. Just kidding good luck on the GWL.
I hope Newton's nothing like Dekalb or Chatham, otherwise this thread is going to get several pages long.
Busted. The truth is that I'm a bit tired of the "newbie" tag. So I've been searching for anything to respond to that I can comment on without embarassing myself. Pretty much limited to topics like "Hi from Mayberry" and stuff like that.
