yes u read it right. during the winter mo0mths they said that if i adjust my thermostat that its a violation of apartment rules in short form.

have anyone else ever heard of such b.s?? my gf is scared that if i take it one one more time that we wil get put out.
yes they pay for gas BUT i still i am renting this dang place from them.
they said they wil disable the key code on the thermostat when it gets warm. and i say what the hell to myself but she dont want me to mess with it, like i have in the past . she is scared of getting evicted.
now i know ,well hope that any semi-smart judge in the land of the USA will see thru this BS and and be on my said with it but i just figure that i would mention this to other just as a thinking point here. :|

Look at your lease/apartment rules. Is it there or not? If so, it's probably in violation of some housing regulation. In the meantime, you can always point a fan at the thermostat's sensor or keep a bowl of nearby. That's not adjusting it.

Or....get a space heater for the win.
I'm confused... is/was it too hot or cold?
Or, yank it off the wall and install your own.
Does your lease say anything about this rule?
I am cold. I have a right to be warm in my own home.

You are correct, however you also have the obligation to pay a higher utility bill if you want your home to be 90 in the winter.

I wonder if the OPs lease agreement states if the thermostat can only be set on XX degrees.

You have a right to whatever you agreed to in the lease you signed. What does it say about the thermostat and its settings?
If they're paying the utility bill, my guess is that this would be mentioned somehow in the lease. If not, they're pulling some shady BS. So yeah, what's the lease agreement say?
If its in your lease than tough toenails.

Its funny when peps starts with "my rights" pay the gas bill than you can have all the rights you want.
they can't hold you to anything thats not in the lease. If it states in the lease you can't raise the heat, and you signed it then you're SOL. you agreed to it. If its not in there you can do as you well please. If they're forcing this rule now, you would have the right to break your lease. So like everyone else.. what does your lease say?!?!?
I cant believe that nobody has posted this yet. What does your lease say?

Just in case anyone here is confused by what "TippinTaco" means... loosely translated, it means "crotch waffle."

That question has already been asked multiple times before your post.

See less See more
If the thermostat setting is unreasonably low, it would not matter what was in the lease. It would be a fight however.

Pretty sure it was a rhetorical question. :righton:
