In the past month, three contractors have been murdered.

"I like to think I'm not paranoid, but I'm scared," says Brian LeBlanc.

These days, LeBlanc works with a hammer in hand and an assault rifle at the ready.

What prompts him to have to bring gun to work?

"That's an act of desperation, no meanness intended," he says. "That's all self-defense."

Self-defense is forcing contractor Pablo Mejia to arm himself and his workers. His son, Pablo Mejia Jr., was at a house installing a lock when he was kicked, robbed and shot in the head.

N. O. was in a desperate situation before Katrina, the storm just bubbled up all the rot. That city is a thug paradise. The D. A. is a joke and the Mayors a clown.
Oh don't EVEN get me started on NOLA and what needs to be done.

First step, bring back General Honroe and have him personally beat the shit out Nagin, Brown, and Chertoff. Then he can get to work removing the murderers and thugs.

Anyone stupid enough to live below sea level, near the ocean, and in the known path of many hurricanes every year deserves whatever nature hands down.

You don't point a loaded gun at your foot, pull the trigger and wonder why your foot hurts.

Your headline implies the contractors are doing the killing, not getting killed. I thought it was going to be a story on Blackwater.

It is two years now and Nagin and his clowns still have not returned all the firearms they illegally confiscated during the hurricane. The firearms were not stored properly and until recently, New Orleans officials denied they even had them. The firearms lie in rooms with high humidity and just rusting away (OK, the stainless might fare a little better). A double whammy for the good guys. Gun taken away and either "lost" or ruined. So they take them away after the hurricane, or in the case of D.C., take them away some 30 years ago. That is criminal.

That is not an accurate analogy, I fixed it for you...
You don't point a loaded gun at your foot, pull the trigger and then blame Bush because your foot hurts .
