Reading that reminds me of the days when I taught school. This is how a lot of kids read and write today, especially because of a program introduced in the 80's called "Reading to Wright". The students spelled the words the way they sounded, and teachers weren't to correct them as "it would stiffle their creative writing"... Am I ever glad I got out of education

the reply is the sad part.
i've heard that in the lower grades k-3
they don't give the students failing grades
because the student might get upset.
no wonder this country is so :screwy:

I know that at the school where my wife teaches that students who are "failed" are always administratively promoted to the next grade. Basically they didn't pass but get to advance anyway.

She detests that policy, but the teachers are not the ones making that decision. It is being made by the politicians that run our schools.

I could read that. And yes I believe the education system is very very very messed up. I have no idea why almost 90% of females I know who are in college want to be teachers. Expecially with the no child left behind (you must pass the student rules)
Because contrary to popular belief teacher pay in Georgia is pretty damned good.
