I believe Mossberg 500 and Persuader are the same thing, correct? I was in a store the other day and there were a couple new of these Mossbergs for $219 a piece. They came with the pistol grip and the regular buttstock. Is that a good price? How are these Mossbergs? Are they decent? They had pretty short barrels, so I assume they were intended for HD (which is mainly what they'd be used for). Thanks.

    Mossy

I think M/Berg has a "value" line called Maverick.

That does sound familiar, now that you mention it.

I think the Mossberg 500 is a superb HD shotgun. My choice would be the Mossberg 500 special purpose. It has a collapsible collapsible stock/pistol grip and a 7+1 mag. $219 is a decent price, but with a little searching, you might find one in the sub $200. I haven't shot one yet, but if the stars align just right, I'll one before December.

Southeastern Firearms in Norcross has this model Mossberg w/heat shield for $329.

I don't like that buttstock but I am really thinking about a Mossberg 500 now.

I saw one of the Maverick models at Academy Sports this week for $179 IIRC.

Alright, thanks everyone. I'm mainly just weighing my options here. I'd rather save up a little longer and get something that's worthwhile. I did handle it and it felt sorta cheap. Kinda loose, if that makes any sense. I'd hate to see how short of a time it held up after a few 12ga shells.

Sounds exactly like what I saw. Had a Mossberg tag on it, said Maverick on the side of the receiver. Felt REALLY cheap.

Didn't you tell us you couldn't afford $75 for NS on your Glock? LOL.

Who am I to say anything? My shottie arrives at my FFL tomorrow and I will be ordering a G21SF and a Sig 220 Carry this week also.

I know you already bought one...but I still wanted to throw in my 2 ruble's worth... 8)

I've had a Mossberg 500 for several years now. It stays right beside my headboard.

I had a Rem 870 but hated the safety, and I needed some cash so I sold it.

As soon as I can afford it I'm buying a Mossberg 500.

Yea yea yea. I could afford it (read: there is enough credit limit). Now I have to use all my paychecks and whatever other cash I come across to pay off these cards... :( That's part of this addiction.
