I'd like to add a front mono or bipod to my Ruger 556. I looked at the Midway site and was a bit overwhelmed, plus I don't know how it would attach to the gun since it does not have a Picatinny rail. It has some sort of fitting that looks like a hole in the bottom and some short grooves on the sides. Sorry for vague description but I'm new to this type gun so don't know what to call it.

Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I want it mainly for bench shooting. Thanks.

    Quick Detach

Ruger calls that a "quick detach" (QD) port. (or QD socket)

I'm not sure what kind of bipod uses that. Maybe it's supposed to be an attachment point for a sling, not a bipod?

P.S. A bipod is what you want, not a monopod. Bipods are better than shooting sticks.

Does your handguard look like this? If not, can you post a pic of what you have?
