Police have arrested three men after three tourists were robbed early Wednesday at a gas station in Midtown.
Police say the three Utah tourists were robbed before 2 a.m. at a station on Peachtree Circle when they pulled in to fill up their rental car but found the station closed. Another car with the three men inside pulled in and ordered the tourists to get out of their car, police said.
Authorities say the men told the tourists to lie on the ground and they stole a wallet and a cellphone. One of the suspects fired a shot into the rental car â€" shattering a window on the passenger side.
The suspects fled, but police picked them up a short time later near 13th and Peachtree streets. Investigators say they were able to track the suspects because they used the stolen cellphone.
The three are suspects in a series of pedestrian robberies, police said.
The tourists â€" two men and a woman â€" were not hurt.
