massacre at Canadian mosque

3516 Views 39 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Malum Prohibitum
somebody shot dozens of people at a mosque in Quebec, Canada.
Several victims dead.
2 suspects arrested. Cops are silent about any motive, but the media is speculating that they're white racists, since anti-immigrant groups are "active" in the city.
(I think that if they were white pseudo-Christians, that would have been news that the cops released IMMEDIATELY. So if cops are trying to 'figure out' a motive, I'd assume the killers are from another sect of Islam, or maybe even the same kind of Muslims as the victims, and the killings were motivated by political or tribe or gang affiliation, not really religion.)

Screen grabs of Bissonnette’s page taken by VICE News show that he was studying anthropology at Laval University, and lived in Cap-Rouge. There did not appear to be any posts or photos advocating violence. His profile photo showed him driving to a campsite, and recent photos included one of him with a friend in December drinking out of a red plastic cup.
Yes, because, heaven forbid, there's no such thing as muslim on muslim crime just like there's no such thing as black on black crime.

How about a perspective from someone not aligned with the MSM? Note the introduction.
This does not appear to be relevant to the shooting, based on the facts now at hand.

Explain yourselves white, Christian, Atheist, male, Trump-supporting gun owners.

Explain yourselves white, male, Trump supporting gun owners.
Why should I be forced to explain why a Trump-hating, liberal, shot up a mosque like some crazy person? That it was a reasonable response to Trump's election? Leaving this, but striking out as I don't know his motivations.

I'm not crazy, nor a liberal.
Crap! I forgot to add 'Christian' to the list. Going back to edit.
UPDATE about Bissonnette's online antics.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...-for-right-wing-online-posts/article33833044/

Mr. Bissonnette's online profile and school friendships revealed little interest in extremist politics until last March when French nationalist leader Marine Le Pen visited Quebec City and inspired Mr. Bissonnette to vocal extreme online activism, according to people who clashed with him.

Well, it appears he is an atheist and admired Richard Dawkins, so . . .

just one word.

Canada.

So he wasn't a Muslim as alleged 24 hours ago?

Folks should really get away from the 24 hour news-revenue cycle and wait 72 hours for the ACTUAL story to shake out. Every thread about some 'breaking news' goes through the same iterations and most of what is reported in the first 24-48 hours tends to be wrong.
So he wasn't a Muslim as alleged 24 hours ago?
Or he had a muslim advisor who was initially arrested/implicated/involved along with the Canadian. The muslim then released and dis-involved because of the unwanted political implications of having a Canadian and a muslim shooting up a mosque.

Canada.
What in the world is this supposed to mean?

I see him just like Dylan Roof, which if I remember correctly, wasn't Canadian.

No, the news reported was correct. The police arrested a muslim. It just turned out he was not one of the shooters. So when they reported a muslim, Moroccan immigrant was arrested, this was true. It still is. He just did not do it.

I do not think anybody reported Bissonnette was a muslim, but they might have, and we missed it. They reported he shouted Allahu Akbar! during the shooting, which still appears to be correct.
This entire story is fake news. Canada has strict laws restricting ownership and prohibiting carry, so such events are impossible.

Correct. The unfortunate victims were obviously killed and wounded by use of a PEZ dispenser.
So, it looks like it's just a lone gunman. A half-crazy evil SOB racist. A domestic terrorist. White, western European heritage. Conservative political views. A Donald Trump supporter. A social outcast-- awkward and not well-liked among his peers. A loser with a grudge against Muslims. And, apparently, access to guns.
Where'd he get the gun(s) anyway???

He's described as a "gun lover" and, at age 27, he would be old enough to get a gun permit. Did he have a permit for any firearms? Did he use stolen black-market guns?

Cased it beforehand.

mosque member Lhoussine El Manoug has recalled meeting Bissonette last Thursday at the site, believing the young man was interested in learning about Islam.

"He said, 'J'aime Allah [I love Allah],'" El Manoug told CBC News, after explaining how he recognised the suspect instantly in news reports.

"I was trying to explain to him that Allah, it's the same God as the Jews and the Christians."

El Manoug revealed that Bissonette had also started talking about how much he loved he loved kebabs.

"I told him we were talking about religion, not food," said El Manoug.

When Bissonette said he needed money to travel to Montreal, El Manoug replied that he did not have any money and suggested they continue the conversation outside the mosque, which was converted from a former bank in 2010.

El Manoug suspected the man did not know anything about Islam, but he saw nothing to alarm him in their five minute conversation.

He added: "I thought he was someone who was simply ignorant."
