The Fulton County Marshal's Department is investigating after a marshal shot and killed an Atlanta couple's dog while trying to serve a civil lawsuit, even though the target of the lawsuit moved out years ago, Channel 2 Action News reports

It is sickening for sure. I have a 110lb pure bred chocolate lab that no doubt would appear threatening if a 40lb mixed lab did.

These dogs are all bark. The moment you sweet talk them they come to you for a head rub.

after reading the article as a dog owner I think that the owner should have kept his dog under control. It was free from a leash or a fence. It is not that different then the person who lets their dog run the neighborhood then the dog gets hit by a car. Who is responsible for that?

As much as I love my dogs, I have to agree with this statement.

It doesn't seem to apply in this case as it sounds like apartments or the like, but what about those who use the invisible fence?

Sounds like the officer could have easily returned to the inside of his vehicle as quickly as he was greeted by the animal.

Try telling that to my 105 lb purebred yellow lab. You can pick him up off the ground by a toy he's holding onto.

I'll actually revise my statement to that dog does not look lab at all. except for that it is a dog. People think every dog is a lab. just do a search for labs on petfinder and you'll know what I mean.

I personally have a problem with dog owners who let their dogs loose in their neighborhoods. Dogs are territorial by nature and they start to tell every person and every dog in the neighborhood to stay away from their territory. It really is not considerate of the owner to let their dogs loose.
