This may be another unicorn I'm chasing, but does anyone know anyone that makes low profile OWB retention holsters? I love my AlienGear Cloak Slide holster for its low profile and that it conceals better under an untucked shirt than even their Cloak Tuck holster. But I love their Shapeshift paddle holster for its active retention. I know AG doesn't make one that overlaps the low profile and retention, but does anyone else make something? I know a thumb button mechanism like their paddle holster would probably preclude as low a profile, but when sitting on a couch, my gun has slipped out one too many times from my Cloak Slide holster for my liking. So I'm hoping for an OWB something a little more secure, but with a bit more retention. Right now I'm just carrying an LC9s. Thanks!
I'm a leather holster guy myself, so for an LC9 I'd recommend the Galco Combat Master: https://www.galcogunleather.com/combat-master-belt-holster_8_4_1063.html That said, dropping a gun while sitting can actually be a belt issue, not a holster issue; if a belt has too much "flex" a holster can rotate into a better "spill" position. I currently just go with a thumb-break OWB holster, because I have little kids around so dropping a gun is simply not an option (I'm using the DeSantis thumb break scabbard holster.) It's a risk-benefit calculation of draw time versus kid safety. DH
I use one of these for a Remington R51. It fits but is a bit loose on that. Should fit that LC9 very well. It an excellent holster overall and should work well for you. If you don't like it they have a good return policy. Nemo https://www.amazon.com/Tagua-BH1M-062-Thumb-Break-Holster/dp/B00KDQSPOE
I have many, and I mean many, holsters from MTR. They make holsters for Wilson Combat as well (at much higher prices). And while I have holster from many other manufactures, leather, Kydex, Hybrid, you name it, my go to maker is MTR. You can also buy a Dual Purpose Holster, OWB/IWB, super easy to convert from one way to the other. I have two of this model, one for a Beretta PX4, and one for a Beretta APX. Retention is excellent (specifically I use those two when I go hunting, I have never had a problem in any situation) without any additional system, but you can add a Thumb Break. It's very similar to the Wilson Combat Lo Profile II holster, it stays super close to the body (https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Lo-Profile-II/products/466/). They make them for your Ruger as well. https://www.mtrcustomleather.com/product/a-2-dc-holster-dual-purpose-holster/
You will not find better quality than Chuck. I have probably had him make me 5 or 6 holsters over the years. Latest one for an Ruger SR9.
Thanks for the options everyone, I'm leaning toward the DeSantis, but is there one out there that rides a little lower?
Maybe give this a look. I know a couple of guys that have these and love them. https://urbancarryholsters.com/order-new-lock-leather-owb-holster.html
It is worth recommending Chuck again. https://cbleatherworks.com/ Tell him what you want and presto chango you can get it as a rule. He is talented and dedicated to his art. Whatever/whichever you wind up going with, good luck.
So in looking around more myself, I stumbled on falcoholsters, anyone know anything about them? The estimated 9 week lead time is a bit off-putting, but they list numerous designs which seem to be much closer to what I want than I've seen so far. Right now I'm trying to decide between leather or nylon and belt loop or belt clip. Here are the options I'm looking at: https://www.falcoholsters.com/slim-...r-with-thumb-break-and-a-belt-clip-c820-clark https://www.falcoholsters.com/slim-...reak-and-belt-clip-c120-alligator?variant=917 https://www.falcoholsters.com/owb-l...-gun-draw-retention-c116-bateleur?variant=901 https://www.falcoholsters.com/owb-leather-holster-with-thumb-break-c822-watson I'd be carrying 3 o'clock with a vertical cant. The belt clip is attractive to me so I can remove it when I get to my truck, and easily put it on when I get out. Any opinions on these?
I ordered a Falco for my CZ Rami about 6 months ago. Ok... So I ordered it. Haven't heard a word since then...
Well I got a message back from them when I asked about belt clip/loop size. They have the best design I've seen so far so I may take a chance. [EDIT] I went with the Nylon one: https://www.falcoholsters.com/slim-...r-with-thumb-break-and-a-belt-clip-c820-clark Part of my reasoning is I like the belt clip design, and I want a black holster. They make black leather, but those just don't look that good, the Classic and Premium leathers look good, but they're shades of brown.
