Returning home from Valdosta last night, I came up to a license check, with LCSD and GSP. While one checked my license, another was shining his flashlight in the backseat.
When I got home and was getting things from the backseat, I realized that my pistol was laying fully exposed.
The deputy surely had to see it. There were no questions and no hesitation. He even informed the one checking my license, "he's good".
A simple "have a good night" and I was on my way.

You're applauding them for doing something legal, while engaged in something very illegal? Do you applaud bank robbers who stop at a stop sign after robbing a bank too?

No, I was applauding them for knowing that having a firearm in my vehicle was perfectly legal.
Apparently that's not the case in other jurisdictions.

Exactly which part of my statement, did I mention something illegal?

Sounds about right, why would the officer have any problem with something perfectly legal?
