No Second Amendment, not national, so I guess it goes in off topic! ... &PageNum=0

BISHKEK, December 14 (Itar-Tass) - Kyrgyz lawmakers on Thursday approved a law allowing them to possess firearms. Most of the deputies believe that they need arms for self-defense.

Opposition lawmakers repeatedly stated that they had been often threatened by unidentified persons. The law provides for lawmakers' keeping firearms after quitting office.

President Kurmanbek Bakiyev refused to sign the bill several days ago, but the parliamentarians overcame his veto on Thursday.

The issue which is discussed at present is which agency will supply the lawmakers with weapons and what brand of firearms should be selected.

Meanwhile, the lawmakers' decision was criticized by the republic's Interior Ministry, which said no country in the world has a law envisioning the use of firearms for self-defense by parliamentarians.
