Kind of On Topic, but I was not sure, so out of an abundance of caution, I put it here. The Senate overwhelming voted to squelch DC's revisions to its criminal code. The Republicans took steps to stop DC's popular proposal, and, after President Biden announced that he agreed with the Republican bill, most of the Democrats jumped on board, too, making the vote bipartisan.

DC residents are not morally or intellectually capable of governing themselves. And really, to go back a few steps, I say there shouldn't be any "residents" of DC anyway.

It should be a place where people go to work and everybody should have to claim a residence in Virginia or Maryland.
Since DC residents do not have a real representative or Senators in Congress,
I find the current situation unacceptable for that reason alone.

End DC residency, except for a few high level political people that have to live right near where they work for the sake of national security and or America's foreign policy.

Democrats are all in on wokeness, until it actually affects them. Lawmakers realize this impacts where they live and work and aren't putting up with that nonsense. Kinda like NYC was an illegal immigrant "sanctuary city" until DeSantis took them at their word and started shipping people to NYC.

Maryland needs to put forth its own Retrocession like Alexandria did back in 1846. NFW make DC a state.

But I don't think MD wants all the headaches of DC added to their own. We sure as all hail don't want it.

The bill that created DC from Maryland and Virginia was enacted in 1801. Almost immediately, Virginia was looking for a way to get its territory back.
