ive looked at lexus nexus till im cross eyed. i cant find where it says no holsters required. plus i was asked a question today. persons in the millitary so ther id is there license but what is the age limit : 21 or if there 18? can they carry?
That's 'cause you are looking in the wrong place .... from SB 308 AP SECTION 1-2.Said title is further amended by revising Code Section 16-11-126, relating to carrying a concealed weapon, as follows:"16-11-126. [Text in red is struck through] (c) This Code section shall not permit, outside of his or her home, motor vehicle, or place of business, the concealed carrying of a pistol, revolver, or concealable firearm by any person unless that person has on his or her person a valid license issued under Code Section 16-11-129 and the pistol, revolver, or firearm may only be carried in a shoulder holster, waist belt holster, any other holster, hipgrip, or any other similar device, in which event the weapon may be concealed by the person's clothing, or a handbag, purse, attache case, briefcase, or other closed container. Any person having been issued a license to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to Code Section 16-11-129 shall be permitted to carry such weapon, subject to the limitations of this part, in all parks, historic sites, or recreational areas as defined by Code Section 12-3-10 and in all wildlife management areas. It wasn't written INTO the law... it was struck OUT of the law...
"i cant find where it says no holsters required" That's because Gerorgia carry members backed the bill and got the votes to strike down that stupid stipulation. You can't find it because it's no longer required because people joined Georgia carry and wrote our represntatives, and called our representatives and got SB 308 passed so that holsters are no longer required. Just like there's no longer a public gathering law, because Georgia carry members actuually worked on getting this bill passed. Who are Georgia Carry members that are doing these things? They're citizens of Georgia that get off their asses and actually DO something to change things instead of just owning a gun. Think about it, and join. We're YOU.
It's not that the law will say what you don't have to do, it will say what you do have to do. In this case the key word is "may", as in you may, but you don't have to.
Exactly. Prior to SB308 there was verbage that said a holster must be used. Post SB308, that verbage has been removed, thus eliminating the requirement. Under 16-11-130 they should be good to go at 18.
Exactly! It doesn't make a difference about their age. Old enough to serve?......old enough to carry!
I appreciate that. I think everybody who's posted is a member. I'm sure this was meant more for observers.
QUOTE: If you're not part of GeorgiaCarry.org , you're part of the problem! MY RESPONSE: So you're going out of your way to take this moment to insult the couple million gun owners in Georgia who are NOT GeorgiaCarry.org members? Way to go, dude. Let's call them ignorant and lazy while we're at it. Forget about whether it's true or not, or partially true for some people. What-ever. You're not doing GCO any good by talking this way. You don't get people to join your group by saying, "HEY, I'M PART OF THE COOL LITTLE GROUP AND YOU'RE NOT, YOU LOSER. ANYBODY NOT IN MY GROUP IS MY ENEMY."
I can think of a couple non-members in Oconee county that have done more for "the solution" than many (heck, probably the vast majority of) GCO members ever will.
What did these people do to get SB 308 passed? What have they done to get church carry passed? Power in numbers. The numbers aren't there. It's called apathy, but you defend it however you'd like.
I'm not going to "out" them before everyone, but they are in a position of influence and helped to influence a group that may have been against some of the changes. Not everyone has to be part of a group to help influence laws for the better.
Riiiiight. I wouldn't "out" them either if I were you. They're changing the world. Sitting on the sidelines bitching is doing the same thing.
