I now hate ISSC...

My sister-in-law is in the dental hygiene program at Armstrong Atlantic in Savannah. I went over there to let her poke and prod for he clinicals. :help: Since I had a about half an hour between her finding every single nerve ending in my gum line while probing with an icepick of OMGness, I decided to stop in a gun shop I don't usually frequent (Mission Essential) to take my mind off the impending gingiva stabbing.

I was looking around, browsing the AR accessories, and then turned my attention to the gun racks they have. They had some M1 Carbines, and I looked those over (gonna get one one of these days...). Then I got to the middle section of the long gun racks they have on the customer side of the counter. They had a SCAR 16 and a SCAR 17 on the employee side of it that made my FN sense tingle, but then I saw something that threw me for a freaking loop.

Right there, in the middle of these shotguns and hunting rifles, was an all black FN SCAR 16. I thought to myself "why the heck would they have a $2400 gun out here for people to fondle?" AND the price on it?! $575!!! I about crapped my freaking pants! I picked it up and couldn't believe my freaking eyes. I thought I had discovered the deal of the century!!!!

Then I noticed the mag...

ISSC is making the MK22, or as I like to call it, the SCAR-Tease. It looks, feels, and has the same controls as a SCAR 16, but in a 22LR chambering. Magazine capacity is 22 rounds. The retail is right around the price ME had on the sticker.

Why must they play with my emotions?!

Did you take a look at the rear sight or the way the flash suppressor detaches?

Yes. The sights seem kind of cool. The pop up for "accurate" use, but lay down and look like standard three-dot pistol sights to be out of the way. I wouldn't mind seeing some flip-ups for a real AR that looked like this. I like the concept actually. They're not the sturdiest things as it doesn't take much to push them down. However, they seem like they would hold up.

The flash suppressor looked like it just screwed on. I didn't fiddle with it, but I like this idea since it would keep you from having to get the barrel threaded. I haven't heard or seen anyone using this with a sound suppressor, but I'm sure it will only be a matter of time.
On the one I saw, the rear flip up sights were installed backwards and the barrel screwed onto the flash suppressor, so you would need a male-male adapter to put any gadgets on it.
Or you could pay almost $200 less for and M&P 15-22?

Or are you going to pay hundreds of dollars more because it looks like a SCAR?
A few simple words of wisdom on this gun from a guy who FORTUNATELY got to shoot one before I bought it.

Crappy, badly built piece of garbage

And those are the nice things...I would have really let go on it but this forum is family friendly.

Glad to have some honest input on this. You know how gun reviewers are...
The desert tan version will be out in mid may. They were $430 at bullseye in lawrenceville ga. (black) I've seen and read a lot of reviews and the gun is built pretty well. One reviewer drove over it with his truck. Another shot many different rds and had some ftf but not many. I plan on picking the desert tan one up in may. For $430 you can't go wrong.

Preach it. My cousin bought one after seeing my S&W 15-22's. They're craptacular. He took it back and traded it for a S&W very quickly.
