Oh, man! I have only one piece of advice for you - get a real degree! That degree is absolutely useless for anything other than to state "I have a degree."

    I know this from experience.

I think more and more BA degrees fall in this category! You have to have something to go with the BA like LEO experience or go to law school.

    BTW WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

    No!

That is my point. It is a useless degree. Take a minor in it or something.

In fact, some law enforcement agencies (e.g., FBI) won't even take people with that degree. Those that will take you with that degree will take you with any other degree, too.

Get something useful or at leat educational.

At this point, that's the point.

My parents have basically told me that unless I have a degree, I'm a failure.

I'm more than likely going military after I get out, so it's at least good for that... go in as an officer instead of a grunt...

Although I may go into LE.

Troops have more fun. Officers make more money but they miss out on all the 'underground' stuff.

Unless you're trying to become an engineer, doctor, lawyer, scientist, etc... your area of study means nothing. Just another check-box you can fill in. If you cant iterate your skills and such you won't get far, degree or not.

No one ever says they want to be homeless when they grow up...

Yes they do... That's why there is a Criminal Justice degree... So that parents and grandparents will be satified, but the graduate will still get his/her wish.

My cousin['s boyfriend's dad's sister] majored in CJ and has been working in a sporting goods store for the last 5 years after graduating making $8/hour.

    :welcome: nonetheless

At least the degree sounds cool.

Degrees are overrated, tell your parents that Bill Gates never finished 3rd grade... it's not true, but it makes for a good arguement when 4 years of your life are on the line.
