I hope this is the right section. It's more about buying than carrying.
I can't sell you a gun because your ga dl is not 90 days old, your id is required to have a picture so your water bill will not work. I'm a freaking
native born georgian, but can't prove with a picture that I've lived here more than 90 days.

Sugestions ?

Hi Maggie.

I guess someone told you this at a gun store? If so, have you tried a different store. I'm not sure if there are any restrictions regarding residency other than you have to be a Georgia resident. One day vs. one month vs. one year, you're still a Georgia resident regardless of how long.

Like I said, you might want to try a different store.

Um...how can they even tell how old your license is? :?

Sure...they can tell the exam date on it...that's the date it was issued. So what? Mine says 5-26-2005. That's just when I got it renewed after the previous one expired.

Bunch'a goobers.

Go somewhere else!

I was going to post a comment wondering why the shop would be so reluctant to sell their products.

Then I remembered what a recent FFL holder told me. After going through all the info and application process with the BATFE agent, he threw up his hands and said, "I get it. You don't want me to sell guns, but I'm going to try anyway."

The BATFE certainly puts the fear of Uncle Sam into the dealers with the endless list of tiny mistakes and clerical errors that could cost them their license, at best, and send them to prison, at worst.

The explaination one gave

The explaination one guy gave me was that a bad guy from a gunhate state, oh let's say the mayor of NYC, could come here, go to DVM give up his NY
DL, get a GA DL, buy all the guns he could carry, and go back to NY and sell
them to more bad guys. Yes, I know there would be a multi-form for handguns, but he's using a made address anyway. Bankrobbers don't worry about speeding during their get away. I hate to admit it, but this could and possibly has happened.

Does one have to have U.S. citizenship to be eligible to purchase a firearm?
A buyer who is not a citizen of the United States must have lawful alien status and must establish that he or she is a resident of a state by providing a valid photo identification and documentation such as a utility bill or lease agreement which would establish that he or she has resided in the state for at least 90 days prior to the date of the sale.

Paragraph 1.
Doesn't that only apply to nonimmigrant aliens? I guess my next question is, Maggie, are you a nonimmigrant alien?

What other requirements must an alien (including a non-immigrant alien) meet to be a lawful purchaser?

All aliens, including permanent resident aliens, must provide proof of 90 days' residency in a state as well as a Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)-issued number. IAQs must be conducted on permanent resident aliens to verify whether they are in legal lawful status.

Utility bill

I think I'll take 3 consecutive bills, Jan ,Feb, Mar, that way there are no gaps
in the chain.
Thanks
