I'm curious to the quantity of ammo people keep on hand. Target, SD, HD, etc....any caliber except .22 LR, since those won't bring down a zombie.

Not counting .22, right now I've got 3,080 rounds on hand.

1,780 of 7.62x54R (got one HELL of a deal, $40 for a 440 round tin, $150 for the case with 4 tins in it), 1,000 of 7.62x39, and 300 of .40.

2,200 of .22LR... $9 for a box of 550 was too good to pass up.

ETA: 100 rounds of Texas Heavy 12ga 7 1/2 shot for small birds, 100 rounds of steel shot for ducks, and 50 rounds of low-recoil 00 buck.

    I normally keep about 500 9mm, 150 - 200 each of 7.62x54R & 7.65x54, and a few hundred .22.

Not enough. Somewhere between 1500 and 2000 rounds of 9mm, .22, and 12 ga. I was pleased to see that no one has fewer than 1000 rounds (though they could have lied or been too embarrassed to vote).

Are we talking about individual rounds or cases? :shattered:

    Dean Forest.

It's the same Bulgarian surplus stuff as is floating about on the Internets, but I guess when you buy 50 cases (like he said he did) you get a discount.

    I got the last one.

    At home or at work?

I'm pretty well covered at home.

In handgun calibers, at least 400 rounds defensive for each caliber (9x18,9mm, .38, .44spl, .45). Varying degrees of practice ammo. I do keep ~1200 rounds of .357, since my home-defense rifle is a levergun.

In rifles, 2500 rounds of 7.62x39 surplus, 1200 rounds of 30-06. Yes, I get the irony :)

At work, well...let's just say I hope to be at work when the zombie apocalypse comes.

I fargin LOVE my FiveseveN. One of the easiest to shoot, most accurate, lightweight, low recoil, high capacity weapons EV-ER. :) That and a pistol muzzle velocity in the 3000 fps range with a 20 rd mag is nice :D

I doubt you'd get the pretty explosion.. but I'd bet that it would go all the way through.. with a 'tumbled' cavity where the bullet goes through.

I keep about 85 HP rounds of .40 S&W (combination of Speer gold dots and walmart winchester), plus about 35 HP rounds of 9mm speer gold dot.

I know, I know...when the zombie apocalypse is upon us, I will probably not make it past the first wave of undead. :x

So for now, my primary strategy will be to run to the hills, and make a stand alongside other GPDO members who happen to have AR's and AK's. :p

Just make sure you are wearing your GCO shirt so you are not mistaken for a zombie.
