It's tough trying to figure out who to vote for. Being in the military, I'm voting by mail and I don't know much if any about the candidates in running for the various offices.

In order to get better aquainted, I pulled up the list of candidates running for my state (Florida). From there, I subtracted all the ones that didn't have a website as they are not getting my vote and opened the remaining websites for the rest of the candidates.

From this point, I started going through each candidates "Issues" page looking for three primary things that are important to me: Military Support, 2A Support, and Anti-Immigration for a lack of better word.

I've narrowed it down to three candidates. I am not a specific party, I do not care about republican, democrat, etc, I am a whoever best fits the job type person. I'm sure theres a party for that, but I'm not aware enough to know.

Any tips on digging through these three remaining individuals so I can determine who I am going to vote for?

I have, in no particular order, Bernie DeCastro (Constitution Party of Florida), Marco Rubio (Republican), and Alex Snitker (Libertarian Party of Florida).

What I like about Alex Snitker is he attended the 1st Annual Florida Open Carry event in Tampa this past weekend to help "raise awareness of Open Carry rights in Florida". Currently, Florida is a concealed only state unless you are going to or from hunting/fishing so in order to pull this event off and attend, you had to possess a valid saltwater fishing license.

As for Marco Rubio, he is a pro 2A guy, but on his issues, it wasn't one of the ones listed so I don't know who serious he is about protecting our rights. But he did answer the question: "If you get to Washington and there were a proposal bill, as there was during the Clinton years, to ban the sale of assault rifles, assualt weapons would you vote for or against it? with "I would vote against that.".

And Mr. DeCastro sounds like he wants to have an uprising against the federal government lol.

"I BELIEVE in the right to own and possess firearms. The Second Amendment to the Constitution recognizes this right and it is the responsibility of our government to protect this freedom rather than to seek to overturn it. Our founding fathers knew that it is in keeping with the rights of every man to protect his life, family, liberty and property as well as to defend himself against intrusive outside agencies; even the government when and if it oversteps its boundaries and authority and seeks to repress its citizens.

Included in this amendment to the Bill of Rights is the authority for state militias to be formed in order to ensure that no encroachment by federal government or outside forces can overthrow the sovereignty of each individual state or the rights of its citizens without an aggressive and armed resistance by its citizenry."

Do any of them have experience in office, and if so what is their voting record?

To me, a voting record says more about where a candidate stands on issues than the words they say.

I know there are many members on this forum with interests in Florida, but you might try a Florida gun forum like: http://www.flaguns.com/

They seem to have a decent topic area for political discussion.

The sad part being that the other day there was discussion on the news if the soldiers votes will even count.

It appears that your ballots may not be mailed in time.

That's what I'm hearing. One of the guys at work came into my office when I was researching and said to take a good look at Rubio.

Luckily, I'm not a soldier, but a Marine so mine should be counted. Haha all jokes aside, this is a common problem. I always hear horror stories of our votes not getting counted come election time. It's unfortunate, but at least I can say I tried...

Just trying to help. Keep in mind if it's like GA, I have found websites for candidates not on the state's website. They got them up and running after qualifying.

I know, I appreciate you looking it up. I guess to me, it's just that if they are not willing to put themselves out there while they're running then how can I rely on them in office. Their website of all things in this day and age should be readily available. If they aren't willing to ensure this information is put out there during election time, then I don't feel they are the best candidate for the job.

Just my .02, but seriously thanks again for linking that. Sorry if that came off harsh or something, it wasn't meant like that.

No sweat.
I agree, but I noticed a new candidate(for state Senate), who didn't have a website up until a couple of months ago. I had an email address(that I had contacted him by) and after several emails(yes some work for me to find out his positions, but it put me on a first name basis with him) had determined that he would be the best fit for me. After he got his website up I contacted him and told him to contact the Secretary of State and get his website hot-linked there(so others could find him, this is the second person running that I have pointed this out to). Many are ignorant to websites(and how to get one set up), and have limited funds for the first few months. So some work by me got me a guy I can support and hopefully he'll listen to me for my input.

Check to see if they voted to reduce your mil benefits in any way or socialist leftwing agendas that make mil life any harder than it already is.
