It's tough trying to figure out who to vote for. Being in the military, I'm voting by mail and I don't know much if any about the candidates in running for the various offices.
In order to get better aquainted, I pulled up the list of candidates running for my state (Florida). From there, I subtracted all the ones that didn't have a website as they are not getting my vote and opened the remaining websites for the rest of the candidates.
From this point, I started going through each candidates "Issues" page looking for three primary things that are important to me: Military Support, 2A Support, and Anti-Immigration for a lack of better word.
I've narrowed it down to three candidates. I am not a specific party, I do not care about republican, democrat, etc, I am a whoever best fits the job type person. I'm sure theres a party for that, but I'm not aware enough to know.
Any tips on digging through these three remaining individuals so I can determine who I am going to vote for?
I have, in no particular order, Bernie DeCastro (Constitution Party of Florida), Marco Rubio (Republican), and Alex Snitker (Libertarian Party of Florida).
What I like about Alex Snitker is he attended the 1st Annual Florida Open Carry event in Tampa this past weekend to help "raise awareness of Open Carry rights in Florida". Currently, Florida is a concealed only state unless you are going to or from hunting/fishing so in order to pull this event off and attend, you had to possess a valid saltwater fishing license.
As for Marco Rubio, he is a pro 2A guy, but on his issues, it wasn't one of the ones listed so I don't know who serious he is about protecting our rights. But he did answer the question: "If you get to Washington and there were a proposal bill, as there was during the Clinton years, to ban the sale of assault rifles, assualt weapons would you vote for or against it? with "I would vote against that.".
And Mr. DeCastro sounds like he wants to have an uprising against the federal government lol.
"I BELIEVE in the right to own and possess firearms. The Second Amendment to the Constitution recognizes this right and it is the responsibility of our government to protect this freedom rather than to seek to overturn it. Our founding fathers knew that it is in keeping with the rights of every man to protect his life, family, liberty and property as well as to defend himself against intrusive outside agencies; even the government when and if it oversteps its boundaries and authority and seeks to repress its citizens.
Included in this amendment to the Bill of Rights is the authority for state militias to be formed in order to ensure that no encroachment by federal government or outside forces can overthrow the sovereignty of each individual state or the rights of its citizens without an aggressive and armed resistance by its citizenry."
