A Cochise County teen who's facing second-degree-murder charges accidentally shot his friend after they broke into a Hereford home Friday morning, according to information released by the Cochise County Sheriff's Department Tuesday morning.

Nicholas Michael Murphy, 16, remains at the Cochise County jail on a $250,000 bond.

Murphy told detectives during an interview that he and Josh Olson, 16, were in a residence in the 2800 block of Homestead Road in Hereford, which is between Sierra Vista and Bisbee, when they found a shotgun, the release says.

The shotgun accidentally discharged, striking Olson, it says.

Further investigation revealed the two teens had broken into the house.

Murphy was charged as an adult with second-degree murder in connection with his friend's death. He also faces burglary and trespassing charges, according to the release.

 Would it be messed up to say they got what was coming to them? Or what goes around comes around.

To bad they were good kids  .

The home owner better watch out. He might get sued for having a weapon locked in his own home. That's would be like when the one criminal broke into a home then fell into a pool in the back yard that was empty and sued, and won.
