Who uses a retention device on their holster, like a thumbreak or a similar device, and who does not? I'll start - sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Usually, I do. A thumbreak. Ocassionally, I carry IWB, concealed, in which case I do not.
I carry IWB now, so I don't use a thumb break. When I buy my OWB, I will be buying one with a thumb break. I think its a reasonable precaution.
I don't. I carry IWB. I am planning on buying an OWB but it will be without retention as well since I plan to keep it covered.
When I get my Glock, I'm gonna buy a Bianchi Carry-Lok. I talked to a couple of plainclothes LEOs at work who were both carrying them and they said it's got great positive retention, but it's still easy to draw once you work breaking the button with your middle finger into your draw.
OWB X 3. 2 Autos = no retention (concealed). 1 Wheel gun = retention (OC). Hereafter, all owb will have retention (probably a blackhawk product). IWB (C-Tac) will not have retention.
I have the Infidel with belt loop snaps and I'm going to have to give it a +1. You should get any of the Infidels because you can switch it out with the different options without having to buy a whole new holster.
Yes, he is. I just (as in 10 minutes ago) bought a CTac. Ramm had a lot to do with my decision. Maybe we should write them a letter and see if we can get him a commission (or at least a hat or t-shirt )
What do you carry? I was looking at one of these as a "competition" (read: enhanced target shooting, not really competative) holster and as one to wear while working outdoors on my property or in the wood shop.
I have: 1 Pocket Holster (no retention) 1 Uncle Mike's Belt holster (thumb strap and retention) 1 Galco Concealed Carry Belt Holster (owb, no retention) Personally, I think retention is probably a good thing in a field holster, for when you're hiking, hunting, etc. But I don't worry about it too much. My Galco leather holster fits my Sig so smoothly that it doesn't need a retention device. As a test, my roommate and I put my Sig 220 in the holster, turned the holster upside down, and tried to shake the gun out. It didn't even move. Unless I pull that gun out of the holster at the correct angle, it doesn't come out.
Oh, ok. I didn't know if you were just referring to the whole company as ctac or if you were referring to that specific model.
