I don't think that religious tolerance and reasonable accommodation should apply the same way to prisoners (at least CONVICTED prisoners, not potentially innocent arrestees who have not had their day in court yet) as those concepts apply outside of jails and prisons.
There should be very little accommodation, and nothing that interferes with security and safety at the institution.

If you don't like that, and if the prison's operations don't fit your religious practices very well, then consider that YOUR FAITH has imposed on you AN EXTRA HIGH DUTY not to violate the laws of the place you are in. Because if you violate the laws, you'll be subjected to things that don't fit your faith. Which puts even more of a burden on you to pray and beg for forgiveness and atone for the position you put yourself in.

Most taken to jail are not convicted of anything yet. Georgia laws almost require a trip to jail for even the most insignificant offense. Several members of this web site and members of GCO have been arrested and taken to jail but never convicted of an offense against the laws of this state.

Be careful what you wish for when you start categorizing all jail inmates as bad and deserving of whatever comes. It might be you.

True most everywhere probably. The bail bond / lawyer industry has it set up this way.
