Don't have my GFL yet, plan on going down to DeKalb county in a week or two. I have a Ruger SP101 that I bought just for carry, but I may also carry my Ruger P95. (Both loaded with 115 or 125 Grain Cor-bon loads in their respective calibers). I'm relatively new to this and I'm trying to figure out holsters and carry styles that will fit me. I think I'll probably buy one of these:http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/beltslide.html when I start carrying. Though I don't think I'll have much opportunity too. I got to Emory Law and I can't even carry in my car.
Do not open carry without it. Good school. Lots of people carry in their car there. Nobody talks about it much . . . What year are you in?
DeKalb? Oh, aren't you in for a treat! You might want to check out the following links: Social Security Numbers: https://www.georgiapacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61 Social Security Number 2: https://www.georgiapacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=287 DeKalb Experience: https://www.georgiapacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=632 Another DeKalb Experience: https://www.georgiapacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=469 Also, since you are a law student and have free access to Westlaw and Lexis, you might want to check out Schwier v. Cox (both the Eleventh Circuit and District Court opinions) and decide for yourself whether DeKalb County is entitled to deny you a license if you refuse to disclose your social security number (DeKalb actually makes you bring in the physical card!). There is language from the opinions in the second link.
I have put the experiences into one page for each county, here is DeKalb's https://www.georgiapacking.org/gfl2.php?id=43
I'm a rising 2nd year. As for the cars, I figured as much. There are some gun people at the law school, they aren't very vocal (I'm the most vocal in the entire school). Malum, are you in law school?
Hey Welcome aboard...I'm new here too....But learning alot along the way....It's always good to see another legal mind such as yourself as a law student show up....There's a few law-edumucated folks here...LOL..Always need more help interpreting these often conflicting, vague restrictions, err, I meant laws... Now project number one for you as a law student; Go do us all a favor, go get the gosh durn Public Gathering law fixed, tweaked or removed...
