I love in Midtown Atlanta. My county was taken over by Dems a long time ago.

I am in the east Cobb area and infiltration has been subtle, but it's there. It's getting harder and harder to go out in public and NOT hear a Yankee accent. Once my Dad is no longer with us...I am heading out west, where folks are solidly NOT demo-rats.

Cherokee County is solidly Republican. Of course that does not mean that we don't have idiots in office.

Yep I'm in DeKalb. Repubs don't even attempt most of the time.

That's the third reason (behind 1. corruption and 2. incompetence) I ditched DeKalb for Gilmer in 2014. Many, many good people of all colors and persuasions in DeKalb county - they just don't have a say in their government any more.

I'm quite certain that 2016 was a bit of fluke for Cobb county. Keep in mind that Isakson won Cobb 53/43 the same day. I think that Trump's style/rhetoric/whatever just didn't sit will with Cobb's independents and moderate conservatives and they either didn't vote or voted for Clinton.

Rockdale may not have voted blue Presidentially, but the county commission is all Dem.

Mr. Nemo. I am a Yankee. I was born and raised in the people's republic of new york.

'Tis not yankees but socialists who value the group over the individual. That being said, I believe every decision made by an individual affects the group. And it it is the best interests of the group to respect the individual.
I'm surprised that the Republican party in Gwinnett county seems to have abandoned us. For months now I have been searching for evidence that the party values Gwinnett but come up short.
If there is anyone who can convince me otherwise, I am ready to help support opposition to the National Socialists.

What is the issue with the Gwinnett GOP? I don't live in Gwinnett anymore but I do talk to the county party leadership regularly and to be honest I've been impressed by their work. If there's something specific I can bring to their attention I'm glad to do so. It might help me behind the lines in DeKalb as well.

I took the original posting the wrong way. My belief that the Gwinnett County government has turned Democrat was really in reference to my state representative for much of Gwinnett is a Democrat. I don't believe Gwinnett County government has turned Democrat but I do see the county turning Democrat just starting with the state representative. On the topic of the State House race District 101 I have sought out who I believe is the Republican candidate Valerie Clark and all I can find on the internet are old web pages out of date and nothing about the 2018 race. This gives me the impression the GOP has given up on Gwinnett. Please tell me I'm wrong. If you'd like please send me a private message so we can discuss Gwinnett politics some more, thanks.

I don't know enough about Gwinnett politics or HD101 to have much of a discussion, but the party doesn't run campaigns for candidates. Candidate recruitment is one of our jobs, but in your case there is a GOP candidate. That was a very close race in 2016 and the seat looks winnable, so I'm sure Valerie Clark would greatly appreciate you donating, volunteering, or even putting up a yard sign. I agree her web site is terrible, but since she has no primary opponent maybe she just hasn't started her 2018 campaign yet.

If you want to know what the Gwinnett GOP is doing, they meet the 1st Thursday of every month at 7PM at Flying Machine at LZU airport, and have monthly breakfasts the first Saturday of every month at 9AM at their HQ in Gwinnett Place mall.
