The last version of HR 38 (2017) died in the Senate after passing the House. Mitch McConnell did nothing to move it out of the Judiciary Committee for a full Senate vote. Nothing. The Republicans owned the House, the Senate and the White House and still this bill died in committee.

Now the Dems control the House. I hate to be pessimistic but I don't see this going anywhere.

The Republicans owned . . . Senate . . . died in committee.
Actually no. Reps had a majority in the Senate but did not "own" it. To get there would require 60 supporting Senators. Dems had filibuster threatened should it get to the floor and Rs could not get the 60 votes to end that.

Same with anything needing senate approval, except some financial/budget bills.

It also applies to confirmation of judge, secretary or other nominated positions requireing senate approval. Harry Reid jumped hoops to get past that on a SCOTUS nominee. McConnell did also for Kavanaugh and Gorsuch Thats the only thing it has been used for.

Just think, if Rs do it now, what happens when Ds control the Senate again? Say on lower level judges, gun control, taxes, medicare for all and such.
