Well this is where I run most nights... Guess it is time for a new route!

Recent shootings remain unresolved
| | Story updated at 11:53 PM on Monday, May 14, 2007
Athens-Clarke police said Sunday no arrests had been made yet in the shooting that injured two people during a street fight early Friday morning in southeastern Clarke County.

One man was shot in the leg and a female bystander was shot in the head near Lexington and Whit Davis roads when witnesses say a shooter opened fire from the porch of a house during a street brawl. Neither of the victims, Chadrick Knox and Cassandra Faust, received life-threatening wounds, and both were treated at Athens Regional Medical Center, police said.

The victim of another recent shooting still was on life support Sunday, police said, but murder charges could be pending for the man who allegedly shot him in the neck outside a party on Westchester Drive on May 5.

Dorunte Cortez Williams, 33, is in a Clarke County Jail after being arrested in Atlanta last week for shooting Stacy Demarko Barnett of Alpharetta outside a party on Westchester Drive. Doctors say Barnett, 29, might die if the life-support equipment is turned off.

Williams currently is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one county each of aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Williams previously served three years in prison for an involuntary manslaughter charge in DeKalb County before his parole in April 1999.

Yes they still have their illegal ban in place, but it is completely unenforceable. Actually arresting someone for violating their park ban would most likely speed up the process.

Remember if you carry a gun some cop who doesn't know better may arrest you anywhere and claim its a public gathering. Of course it would be very embarrassing for him/her and their dept. in the long run.

I completely agree, and was being a wiseass about the illegal ban.....Got to love forums, cant really read my tone of voice making fun at gwinnett.

I feel the same way, however what a headache that would cost!

Still gonna get that wonderful ride to teh station, hire a lawyer, and all that. Sooner Gwinnett gets in check the better!

Nice neighbors ya got there GG!

I hope you carry when you run. You do, don't you? Ya know, you really should even if you didn't have to worry about the neighbors. Read what it says at the bottom of my posts and give it a little thought... Be careful out there kid!

Hey Sharky:

We really need a volunteer for a test case to get that illegal law tossed. Sounds like you could be just the guy we need...

Go for it dude! Ya know we're all behind you.

Maybe waaaay behind ya, but we're there for ya.....!

They went to Athens Regional MC and made it out alive?

That's amazing in and of itself.

ARMC is better than St. Mary's I've been told... plus I don't like the nuns coming around to "pray" with you... they seem to get very offended when you tell them you don't do that.

Just dont run, running sucks anyways...
There are only two legitimate reasons to run.

1. To keep from being eaten
2. To catch something to eat.

Bah!
Running is great.
You just need to do it in the woods instead of on the roads.
(shameless plug)
MGH4

The beer at the end is nice too. :D

Just got done with this last weekend. It was a great time.
And this two weeks before. Possibly the hardest thing I've ever done in my life if you take training into account.

But this is the one I'm looking forward to this summer.
It's always a fun day and knowing the area really well helps out with the time by a huge factor.

Yes Midnight Hash Runs are fun, we used to go on those...

And for those of you not in the know...clothing is optional.

Run a few miles, drink some beer, run some more, drink beer, wash rinse repeat...
