Has anybody had their Glock 21 sf frame swap(Pictany rail)out? I took mine to Glock on 1-24-11 and dropped it off because the ambidextrous magazine release would get stuck when pressed in. The tech informed me that I would need a new frame and it would take a couple of weeks. On the new frame the Pictany rail would be gone, which was fine with me. I received it today through fedex and I noticed that the serial number on the frame does not match the slide or the barrel(my barrel and slide are the same ones i dropped off). Should I be concerned?

Do I understand this correctly, you had a frame with a light rail, and they swapped it out for a frame that does not have a light rail at all?

now it has a regular 3rd gen rail

Its my understanding that frame replacements cannot be issued with the same serial number...

No worries.. ATF requires a new serial number as it is technically a different firearm. The serial numbers on the slide and barrel mean nothing to ATF.

That is exactly right, the frame is considered the gun. The slide & barrel are accessories according to the feds. This is why you can purchase after market barrels & slide assemblies. If it weren't this way then the Advantage Arms 22lr conversion slide I bought on line would have needed to have been shipped to an FFC dealer. It wasn't. That being said, I am experiencing the same problem with my 21sf. The mag release sticks when I push it in to release a full mag. It doesn't stick on a partial or empty mag. I just haven't taken the time to call Glock yet...Guess I will soon. I don't see where the mag release sticking only on a full mag would be a tactical problem, but I've read several reports of the release mechanism falling apart after sticking for a while.

I had a frame replacement from Glock last year, on a G17.

The new frame has a new serial number. I also got a letter from Glock showing the work done, and the issue of a new frame.

I had to have mine sent to an FFL, because they said a new frame was considered a new firearm, and could not be shipped to me.

Did they ship the new frame and everything to you?

How much was your replacement Glock 17 frame? I've got a couple of 2nd gen guns that I'd like a light rail & the 3rd gen grip on.

Yes, they shipped it to my door fed-ex.
