looking for some info. I currently live in Florida and have a valid CWP. I am moving shortly to Valdosta, Ga. Will my Florida permit be valid in Georgia while waiting for my new Georgia permit??

You are in luck. HB292 passed just this spring gives you 90 days from "establishing residence" to carry on your reciprocal state permit, provided you apply for a GWCL "as soon as practical". Unfortunately The Powers That Be(tm) have not updated the code cited on this web site but a bit of google-fu found this: http://codes.findlaw.com/ga/title-16-crimes-and-offenses/ga-code-sect-16-11-126.html

    Scroll down to section e.1.B.2

Welcome. Don't let the cranky old guys (myself included) scare you off.

Hey, thanks for the info. Really didn’t want to not be able to carry until I got the new one. Just hope it takes less than 90 day, right?

By law, they have 10 days from when your "instant" background check is returned to the probate court. You should have it in a couple of weeks, unless you live in one of a few "problem" counties.

    Welcome aboard!
