I'm a new resident of Fayette County.
I have not been following the local news much.
So how about we start by collecting (posting here) some factual information and news articles about the new gov't shooting range plan and the rest of the law enforcement training facility it will be part of.

Here's one article.
It says the County doesn't even plan to let many other police agencies use it.
Just local ones. They're worried about not having enough range time for all the Fayette County and municipal cops to train and qualify.

So where's the OLD (current?) shooting range that the Fayette County Sheriff's Office uses?
One comment to one online article says the old range is off McDonough Rd.
I can't find any other references to that, and no address. That's a long road!

Many local governments have a police range or shooting practice area set up at the local landfill. Mountains of garbage makes for a good backstop, and landfills are usually far away from housing developments and schools. Do any LEOs shoot at or near the county landfill on First Manassas Mile Rd?

I wonder how many noise complaints the old / current shooting range generates?

Do LEO's shoot rifles there, or just their handguns and shotguns? (a rifle is a lot louder, so that's something to consider).
