Arrested a couple hours after beating an inmate, still (apparently) on same shift. Deputy was still in probationary period.

A disturbance inside a Georgia jail ended with a sheriff's deputy recruit behind bars. The Cobb County Sheriff said the recruit beat an inmate he was attempting to relocate.

I guess, from listening to TV and radio news reports (which we all know are often grossly inaccurate or slanted for propaganda purposes)
that the fundamental problem with what the deputy did was that he struck first.

The inmate was running his mouth and having a bad attitude, but the jail officer responded with physical violence! So the initiated the fight --he wasn't defending himself from it!
