is a funeral home considered a church.
the reason i ask i live across the street from one
and i was going to take my daughter and use their
front lawn to teach her how to cast.
don't really want to do it unarmed.
i guess i could fend off an attacker with my fishn' pole
but i might damage my pole.
if ya'll knew where i live you would understand not
    wanting to be unarmed.

I don't think it counts as a church.

Don't churches have to be not for profit? A funeral home is probably for profit.

My rule of thumb. If they don't pass an offering plate it ain't a church. However a funeral could be a public gathering. Coretta King's funeral had half the state show up. That was probably a public gathering. When we had Grandma's service the immediate family showed up. The general public wasn't invited.

What about the fact that many funeral homes have a chapel annex, or separate chapel on the property, to conduct funeral services in?

Yeah, but if you had a gun within a mile of the King Funeral you would have gotten heat because of the politicans and figures showing up there.

You have case law on that point?
Some funerals have no religious content at all. Some funerals are not open to the public at all.

if i see they are having a service for someone i wouldn't
do it out of respect for the family, but if no service why not?
i was just trying to clear up carrying on church property or not.
i think i would be ok. sinse it is not tech. a church and with no
service it's not a church function.
i'll let ya'll know what happens

Yeah, I might have to have a word with you if I showed up at the funeral home to stick aunt Clara in the ground & you & your little one were tossing beetlespins across the front lawn while all the suits & black dresses walked by.

That thought actually makes me laugh a little.
