Bass Pro Shops in Lawrenceville is hosting us, the authors of the Georgia Weapons Laws booklet, for two one-hour presentations this coming Saturday evening, 9/24/2016.

The first our will be about Georgia's laws on possession, carry, and transportation of guns (primarily handguns, but we'll mention other kinds of guns or self-defense tools at various points in the lecture). It will explain how to get a GWL (carry permit) and what that will do for you, compared to your more limited gun rights when you don't have such a license. Finally, that hour will conclude with a discussion of the laws on use of force and deadly force in defense of self, others, or when defending a "habitation" -- home, car, place of business.

The second hour will be about situational awareness. How to think tactically ahead of time so that you're mentally prepared and have a plan (or a series of alternate plans to choose from) in an emergency. We discuss things like the color codes to describe how alert you are, the OODA loop, the real risk of panic and how it affects your brain at a primal level, etc. There are plenty of simple, practical hands-on tips and techniques that you can use in your daily life to be better prepared for the unexpected.

DATE: Sat. 9/24/16.
TIME: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (yes, it's in the evening this time)
LOCATION: Bass Pro Shops, Discover Mills Mall, Sugarloaf Parkway and Hwy 120 at I-85 in Lawrenceville.
SPECIFIC LOCATION: The seminar room, which is behind the laser-rifle shooting game, which is behind the indoor climbing wall, also near where the kayaks and canoes are sold.

REGISTRATION: None! Just show up. You can call Bass Pro and let them know you are coming (or post something via Facebook), but you don't have to.

THIS IS FREE. Y'all come on out. Bring friends, neighbors, older kids, co-workers, your shooting buddies, etc.

For those that can go, these guys give a great presentation. I attended the presentation a couple years ago. Highly recommended. Knowledge is power when it comes to the laws, use of force, situational awareness, and the other subjects they cover.
