Some of you may know or be familiar with Angel Shamaya. I am not, but thought I would pass this on for those of you who are and hadn't heard.

From The Firearms Coalition:

Angel Shamaya, Second Amendment activist and founder of KeepandBearArms.com has been arrested in Michigan on firearms possession charges.

We join with the many activists who are rallying to Angel's support and encourage our readers to help in any way that they can. Unfortunately, information is limited and more is not expected until Saturday night at the earliest.

Some of Angels friends are calling for people who know Angel to submit character reference letters to help convince a judge that this is not a dangerous criminal.

More information can be found at:
http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2006/03/a ... -jail.html

We will keep you posted as news of our friend's plight unfolds.

Yours for the Second Amendment,

Jeff Knox

I am not familiar with Angel or what brought about his charges, but the idea that an american citizen is in jail for "improperly registered" guns just pisses me off. Nazi's required gun registration. I thought they demonstrated just how well that worked out. What the hell is wrong with people?

Back when Angel ran KABA I visited the site once a day at least. I learned something everytime he schooled a liberal that wandered on the site and posted.

Now I just stop by to read any GA gun stories. It is rare now for me to click on "read comments".

What ever happened with this case?

It is sobering to reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence. â€" Charles A. Beard

UPDATE:

Shamaya was arrested and charged with four misdemeanor counts of failing to present his firearms for safety inspection (the code words for gun registration in Michigan) and one other false charge the police later dismissed when evidence exonerated him. His only crime: he hadn’t presented the handguns he’d owned for years for “safety inspection†after moving to Michigan to be with his son. He was out of Oakland County jail the next day. He has now of course registered his handguns, served his 3 days of community service and paid the $100 fine on each of the four misdemeanor counts.
Sold his gun collection.

Link to article no longer works.
