Not as far fetched as it may seem. This new foam didn't stop the bullet by itself. It required boron carbide ceramics plus a kevlar backer. Not mentioned was how this foam compared in weight and thickness to existing comparable armor.

Develop something new and improved and someone will eventually find a way to defeat it.
