I jokingly posted in another thread about a class action suit. Maybe it's time to stop joking and see just how many gun owners would actually contribute to an action to restore the 2A? There is plenty of evidence out there as to the intent of the 2A and the limits it actually places on the States and Federal Government. If only 25% of the gun owners (roughly 80 million) donated $10 to pay the lawyers the lawyers could walk away with rewarding salary. Say around $200 million...

Does this law ban any transfer (including gifts) of guns to 18-20 yr olds, or just FFL transfers? The NRA lawsuit sounds like it is pretty restrictive.

Any father sending his 18-yr old daughter to college ( living off campus) should be concerned if there is not an exception for family gifts.

I wonder if he expected the NRA to jump that quickly?

Gifts are still okay, at least long guns to 18-20 yo.

From what I'm reading this appears to be a ban solely on FFL sales and transfers. Just like 18-20 year olds can buy a handgun from a private party or be gifted one, it looks like the same deal now applies to long guns also. I don't particularly care for this bill because we all know it was emotion, not logic, driven but maybe there's still some light in it.

Go down to line 677 forward:

Sorry I can't see any light. Maybe I'm just blind. Anyone in Florida currently owning a "Bump Stock" and other devices to speed up a semi auto are now felons. They can's sell, give or transfer in any manor so they are stuck with just cutting them to shreds and placing them in a trash can. NO grandfather clause is included. You also have to take a class in order to purchase a firearm. 3 day waiting period can be 5 days since you can't take possession on a weekend.

The lines I pointed to aren't discussing bump stocks.

They have until October to get rid of any fire rate increasing device. That portion of the bill did not take effect immediately.

Could you flesh that assertion out for me a little with facts? Domestic violence where he was the perpetrator? What?

You have to include the Broward County School District as also being complicit in letting Cruz (and many other students) skate by so that their records on "school violence" would show year-over-year improvements and put taxpayer money into their coffers.

Yeah, I read that, but there is not enough detail to conclude he would be an ineligible person had the police made a report.

Threat on the internet to be a "professional school shooter", for one example.

Guest column: An expert analysis of Florida’s sweeping new gun control law

BY LEE WILLIAMS ON MARCH 12, 2018NEWS - NATIONAL

Lee’s note: Here is an extremely thorough examination of the new gun control law Gov. Rick Scott signed last week, from our good friend Cindy Clark, a Sarasota attorney who’s incredibly knowledgeable about gun trusts, estate planning and elder and firearms law. I haven’t seen a better analysis.
