I want a flashlight. Right now, I've got the 3-cell Mag Lite with the LED lamp, and it's extremely bright, but extremely hard to carry.

I've heard Surefire is the way to go. Which one should I get? I want it to be as bright as possible while still being able to carry it conveniently in a pocket. The strike edge is an added bonus, but with the high-intensity beam hopefully I won't need it.

Any other suggestions as to brands? If I do get a Surefire, what model is the "best"?

Surefire for sure.

I have the G2Z. It's 65 lumens of eye-molesting goodness. You can bump that up to 120 lumens if you get the replacement bulb.

You working tonight? I can show you my light. It's awesome.

If you're on a budget, then go for the G2. Still 65 lumens, but in a more concealable frame.

Of course I'm working tonight... it's a weekend and I work every overnight weekend.

Geezz, there are a lot of Surefire's to choose from.

I'm wanting one for the side of the quad rail on my AR but am not really seeing rail mount options. Am I over looking them?

I bought one of these several months back... liked it so much I bought two more for the house and kept one for the flight bag. Doubles as an aircraft landing light in an emergency!
Is it really that bright?

I like that one because it has the bezel on it, makes for a fairly effective impact weapon.

That's the reason I bought it, too... to bash baby seals.

Seriously, it is that bright. I bought one of the extra bright bulbs to have a spare and that little booger is bright. Put it this way, the vertical tail on my airplane is 23 feet tall. I can see small details at the top of the tail when preflighting the airplane at night. I tested the temporary blinding effect on my wife. It worked great!

ahh....perfect, blind her with the flashlight so she doesn't see the new gun in your other hand on the way to the safe. :D
The Mag-Lite is bright enough that it caused me physical pain when I shined it very briefly into my eyes.

It really, really hurt and was more than just an "Ow, that's bright" reaction. I'm hoping the Surefire has the same response, you know, just in case.

It will buy you a precious second or two to plug the BG. Not sure if zombies are immune.
Or a precious second or two to get the hell out of Dodge, if I'm on campus and disarmed.

I got a Mag-lite and a Surefire 6P for free. The Surefire 6P is brighter than the Mag, but the Mag doubles as a baton. :) Both are bright enough to make a shot in the dark that much harder for the baddy who gets shined in the eyes. I was reading about the 6P and apparently there is an optional 120 lumens lamp, that'd be awesome, even though 65 seems more than enough.
