The Firefox 57 is a bit faster than chrome on my laptop and desktop. I've not watched any video on it yet, they say there's supposed to be some speed up there too.

I just installed it. Setting it all up now. I wish it had an option to import bookmarks from Opera. There might be some way to do that indirectly. I guess I will look into that tomorrow, but so far I like what I see. I may be switching back to FF. Haven't used it in a while.

That would definitely undermine the purpose.

Yep, but Google is the type of company that would do that in such a way that nobody knew about it. Like Facebook, they are like ticks. You don't feel them bite you like you would a mosquito. They crawl up under your nut sack or armpit and suck blood (your personal data) out of you, painlessly and without notice. Then they sell it. And make millions per day from it.

Yeah, I'm reading about DRM in FF now, wondering what I might do to myself by turning it on.

I got upgraded to FF57 tonight and I'm finding I may roll back. It has broken the main plugin I use with it (keefox, now kee for FF57) which is how I manage all my logins.

I also noticed even here that it alters some formatting and when I go to login the top portion of the screen blanks out making it hard to do so.

Hmmm. I'm looking something up in Lexis and tried to open multiple tabs to flip between referenced sections and FF closes the new tab (or second session of FF) when I go to Lexis site. Rather annoying. I don't remember previous versions doing this. Anyone else run into this?

Ugh, chalk this one up to user error. Apparently, when you type in a URL, if there is a tab already open, FF lists that tab in the list of matching URLs and I was mistakenly selecting it.

I've run into problems with trying to make a purchase and the drop downs do not work when they work on IE, edge and older FF.
Only purchases I've made since upgrading FF was on Amazon and didn't run into any issues.

I haven't run across too many negatives yet, for FF on computers. The beta version of this new FF for my Android phone has a few functions, or lack thereof, that I'm not too crazy about, but overall I'm pretty pleased and am glad to have switched over from Opera, which I worked ok, but isn't great. Chrome is a great browser, but I try my best to get as far away from anything Google that I can. Now, if the switch to email were easier....... Why did I ever make my main email Gmail, years ago, when the very, very clever evil Google marketing tricks fooled me and drew me into their evil web? Finding a non-tracking, non-invasive email provider, then switching over everything to it is a major PITA.
