A U.S. District Judge serving North Georgia appeared on the wrong side of a docket Monday, charged with buying cocaine and other narcotics from a stripper at a club in Atlanta. FBI agents who arrested the judge Friday said they found two illegal firearms in his car along with a bag containing blue pills and a white powdered substance.
About Judge Clay:
A graduate of The Citadel, the suspender-wearing Camp has presided over civil rights cases, and ironically some drug cases. He also oversaw some high-profile cases. In 2004, he sentenced the two men accused of killing DeKalb Sheriff Derwin Brown to life in prison without parole. He also handed down a life sentence to former pro wrestler Harrison “Hardbody†Norris for luring women to his home and using them as prostitutes.

Does this mean O is going to appoint the judge to replace him in our district?
Yep, with the advice and consent of the Senate of course. That is, assuming that the judge in the above story is impeached by the House and found guilty by the Senate.

What do you think these weapons are? Unregistered NFA weapons? Stolen guns? Scratched-off serial numbers? Remember the judge more than likely has a spotless criminal record (before this) and the judge is 16-11-130 exempted while here in Georgia.

To lose his position, he has to be impeached by the US House of Reps and tried by the US Senate, unless he resigns.

With the exception of the territorial courts (Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands), federal district judges are Article III judges appointed for life, and can be removed involuntarily only when they violate the standard of "good behavior." The sole method of involuntary removal of a judge is through impeachment by the United States House of Representatives followed by a trial in the United States Senate and a conviction by a two-thirds vote. Otherwise, a judge, even if convicted of a felony criminal offense by a jury, is entitled to hold office until retirement or death. In the history of the United States, only twelve judges have been impeached by the House, and only seven have been removed following conviction in the Senate. (For a table that includes the twelve impeached judges, see Impeachment in the United States.)

Ten minutes after the 7:35 p.m. drug transaction, FBI agents arrested Camp and recovered the drugs and two pistols from Camp’s car, including a .380-caliber Sig Sauer with a full magazine and a round in the chamber.

“The hammer of the gun was cocked,†the affidavit said.
and locked.....?

Federal law carries separate charges for carrying a firearm in drug transactions.
Looks like he has himself boxed in.
Possession of a firearm during commission of a felony?

Or will they get him for "user of controlled substance (prohibited person) in possession"?

Or both?

This was the judge that sentenced Chris Benoit's doctor to TEN years in federal prison.

Sounds like a P238. Cocked, Locked, and Ready to Rock.

Sounds like this federal judge is in some hot water.

I agree, I think the "illegal weapons charge" is due to the fact that he had them with him while committing a crime. At least I hope so.

If they are talking about a P238, did he illegally convert it to a full auto? Just kidding.

Why does it no longer surprise me that a crooked Judge was found in Georgia?

Why not Nebraska, or Delaware?

I wonder if he attended Judge Diane Busch's Christmas Bash ... (?) The name list was never released - only other person who was listed was Senator Joe Wiles.

If drugs were legal he wouldn't be in trouble. He also probably wouldn't be getting his cocaine and blue pills from a stripper. Lord knows they are reputable.

Does this make it easier for the criminals he's put away to get out on appeals, technicalities, etc.?
