I was showing 2 of my employees my GWL and encouraging them to apply for their license. I notice my secretary was listening to our conversation. Then she speaks:

Her: What’s a GWL for?
Me: It allows people to CC or OC a firearm.
Her: You can carry a gun?
Me: If I decide to, yes.
Her: Anyone can get a GWL (looking shocked)?
Me: If you don’t have a criminal record you can.
Her: Well, people may not have a criminal record yet....
Me: Do you think someone that is going to commit a crime is going to apply for a GWL so they can carry a gun legally?
Her: I don’t know.
Me: So do you think people with a GWL commit crimes?
Her: They might. They are carrying a gun.
Me: I would say that would be highly unlikely. Criminals don’t follow the law.
Her: (Silence)
Me: You realize that people go through an application process that includes a background check and finger printing to get a GWL, right?
Her: Oh…
Me: Are you scared of guns?
Her: Yes!

I cannot recall the rest of the conversation because I was getting annoyed and tuned her out. She is young and fresh out of college. Really good person and employee, just a little "misinformed" .

I had an employee last year who freaked out when I brought my Springfield XD to work and he found out I did not have "a license to own a firearm". He was an idiot. Luckily I don’t have to deal with him anymore. What is wrong with people?!

Me: well dont worry, they just made it illegal to commit a crime with a gun, so you have nothing to worry about now

Three things you DO NOT do at work:

- Talk about guns
- Debate the Second Amendment, and
- Hand out GCO (GeorgiaCarry.org) cards

Get it? ............If you care about keeping a job.

Missed opportunity. While I agree with CountryGun above about not talking about guns at work, there have been a few occasions that I have been approached with questions and I have taken the time to answer them. One of the other coworkers was there on once such occasion and indicated her trepidation about guns and their usefulness in deterring crime. Instead of debating the issues with her, I offered to take her to the range, which she promptly agreed to. Debating the issues will very rarely change a person's mind. Inviting them give it a try and finding out first hand it's not as bad as it seems is a much better approach.

Your mileage may vary depending on how well you know the person(s) and the corporate climate.

If you are a good worker, they don't won't rid of you. They don't give a fVck what you do on your personal time. When people ask me what I did on the weekend, I don't hesitate to tell them. I don't stand around passing out cards of any kind or try to push anything. There isn't some overt attempt to fire gun lovers at my place of work. Maybe that is the case elsewhere.

I actually did invite her to the range. She seemed willing to go. I have taken my employees to the range on a rain day before (since we work outside). We will see if she goes next time.

.... One of my bosses carries a Springfield XD when he's not at work, and the other asked me where the cheapest place to get an FFL transfer was a few weeks ago. I'm pretty comfortable with talking about guns, the second amendment, and handing out GCO cards to my fellow employees at work...
