    Commies

I love the fact that the camera focused on a student (or student-age leftist who happened to attend this event) who was wearing a red T-shirt with the Soviet hammer and sickle on it, with a red arm-band. Yeah, I'm sure he has a disagreement with this speaker. And pretty much every other speaker who isn't a card-carrying Communist.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. I just get sick of people trying to shut down the speech of others with whom they disagree.

don't even get me started... actually, since we're approaching the anniversary of me becoming a devout anti-communist, I'll start a new thread and post some of my thoughts.

Fixed that for you. It's not like the right is any better.

I disagree, budder. You do not see libertarians and conservatives throwing pies in the faces of liberal speakers or shouting them down at a forum where they came to address an audience. You do not see libertarians or conservatives instituting speech codes on college campuses.

While social conservatives by and large like to see "decency" standards for broadcast programming (and libertarians generally do not), I do not recall any movement to censor leftist political speech.

People protest Clarence Thomas whenever he appears on a school campus. Have you ever seen similar behavior when leftist Justices speak?

These people in the audience should have waited for the question and answer period to put forth their reasoning in devastating questions for Mr. Horowitz. They did not because their reasoning usually fails to withstand any scrutiny. That is why they prefer simply to shut down the other side through mob action.

Leftists, when they get their way, always end up in soldiers and killing fields. What you see on campus is just a smaller scale, without the guns.

The same thing is true of the leftists, with the small exception for hate speech.

This sounds familiar... isn't this what happened with I'm-a-dinner-jacket at Columbia?

These idiots can protest all they want - the fact remains that Muslim extremists still want them dead. Yes, terrorists have political agendas as well, but they also have religious reasons for wanting to kill all Westerners.

You're right, but the problem is that anything disagreeing with the socialist position is "hate speech."

Before you get your panties in a bunch about me talking bad about the "left," I have plenty of problems with the "right." In general, both the far-left and the far-right want a police state, so long as the police enforce their particular views.

I agree. There is really little difference in the goals of both the far left and the far right. Both are concerned with control and imposition of their beliefs on others with the only variance being their choice of social ideology.

The far right and its fascism scare me just as much as the far left and its statism.

    Shout down JFKerry - get tasered;
shout down Horowicz - get extra credit?

The Left can't afford debate. Debate requires rational, analytical thought which exposes the Left for what it is.

    Dear Fellow American,

Even before our Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week began, we were being attacked by radical leftists with a fake flyer at George Washington University- a deceitful hoax that was revealed in the Washington Post and on Fox News.

And now during the week we're seeing our opponents mount new attacks, threats and intimidation daily. They want to kill this event because they knew know that awareness about Islamo Fascism means the end of their homicidal enterprise. I'm asking for your help to keep them from succeeding.

For Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week we've organized events on well over 100 campuses across the country. Our campus coordinators - brave young men and women willing to go up against the radical left to get the truth to their fellow students - are working night and day against incredible odds to make the Week a success.

Our goal is to give our enemy the name it deserves- Islamo Fascism; to lay bare the unholy alliance between American leftists and our enemies in the war on terror; and to create a national movement that will call it what it is and stand up to it.

We've had dramatic results so far. At Tulane University on Monday, some 1,500 people turned out to hear Ann Coulter. It took 15 police officers and Ann's personal security to keep the crowd at bay.

Robert Spencer faced a rowdy crowd at De Paul, courageous Arab-American intellectual Nonie Darwish was confronted by a militant communist group at UC Berkeley. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison I shocked even the protesters with a large poster of a Muslim woman on her knees being shot in the back of the head for some real or imagined insult to fundamentalism.

But the most hostile crowd so far was at my Emory University appearance last night, where protesters became so disruptive that the police were called in to escort me off the stage only a half hour into my speech.

Unless the left succeeds in silencing us, Islamo Fascism Awareness Week will be the largest demonstration ever staged by conservatives on American college campuses. By the end of the week, over 30 speakers such as Coulter, Spencer and former Sen. Rick Santorum will have appeared on campuses across the country- from UC Berkeley to Columbia; from Emory to Penn State.

But the opposition is building, both in its intensity and its potential for violence. (I have been forced to provide bodyguards for all our speakers and the campus police have been on high alert at every school where they have appeared). The entire political left, from the Revolutionary Communist Party to the Young Democrats, is up in arms against us. Campus Progress, a part of the George Soros-Hillary Clinton operation, has put up a "kit" for attacking Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. The violent extreme left is thus urged on with a wink and a nod by the "moderate" left.

They are joined by the whole array of Muslim groups: CAIR, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, the Muslim American Society, the Muslim Students Association and the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Council - groups who claim to oppose Muslim terrorism, but when the opportunity arises to join us in exposing it, find themselves on the side that defends jihad rather than on the side that defends Muslim women, homosexuals and "infidels" from the homicidal violence of Islamo fascists.

In the process of organizing Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week we have discovered hundreds of courageous students who organized the events on their campuses in the face of constant attacks not only by fellow students but by professors and administrators who control their academic future. We are working with a new generation of conservative young people who will actually believe the War on Terror is worth fighting and their country worth defending, despite the left's best efforts to intimidate them.

I write you now to ask you to support these brave students and the new, pro-American and anti-jihad movement they are creating. I write also to ask you to help me keep Islamo Fascism Awareness Week from being derailed by the left's violence and intimidation.

This must be a permanent campaign - to help these young people continue the awareness campaign . . . to organize on more campuses... to make sure that the left does not silence what some are already calling one of the most important public information campaigns of our era- to publicize the message about Islamo Fascism beyond the campuses, to the American people at large. Follow this link to make a secure, online donation today.

No contribution you've ever given before will have such a dramatic effect as what you give now. Every dollar you pledge will help us to keep building awareness about the Islamo fascists who wish us dead and our country crippled. This is our chance to strike back at them and to build a movement that will deny them an intellectual haven on America's college campuses.

Finally, we are waking up Americans to the real nature and seriousness of the threat against us. We must continue to build on our success, and we can't do it without your help. Please give whatever you can afford today.

    My Sincere Thanks,

    David Horowitz
    President & Founder
P.S. Our speakers are under even more threat than we anticipated. In addition to the funds we need to continue the campaign, we need your immediate financial help to hire additional security for the ongoing events of Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. I will be hugely grateful for anything you can give. It is important the people threatening those who speak out against Islamo-Fascism are sent the message that we will not be stopped!

Between this and one other issue that I don't want to disclose, it appears that the excrement is hitting the fan this week at Emory. Too bad 16-11-127.1 keeps me from grabbing my AK for self protection. Apparently, after this, conservatives and libertarians on campus need some protection.

Well to the leftists Horowitz is a purveyor of hate speech and has no rights.

We have a muslim law prof and in front of his office he has a flyer that basically amounts to an ad hominen attack on "Islamo-Facism Awareness Week" the name of the groups that supported it "The Center for Critical Thinking and Dissent" and The Reactionary Communists of America (not the exact names, but close)

And can someone please clarify how is voicing concern and opposition to a RELIGION considered racist.

My long-time girlfriend is working on her third, consecutive, degree at Emory (Masters in Nursing).

MY only surprise was that they allowed him to come at all.

You all would be deeply disturbed - I repeat for emphasis - disturbed by what the faculty and student body of Emory promotes behind the closed door of the lecture hall and lab. I could give examples for days on that one becuase I have stories that go all the way back to at least 1998.

Emory is just one large retard factory. I'm completely under-whelmed that the students would protest a presentation on the dangers of ISLAMO-FASCISM. Most kids start there pretty normal, but come out raving, uninformed, lunatics that can't pass a test without serious, serious drug use.

Protesting in support of FASCISM for Christ's sake. I blame MTV for teaching our children that "Feedom of Speech" means "whomeever shouts the loudest wins."

    I. Am. So. Angry....

There was some debate about him coming to campus. It really only amounted to a few op-eds in the Emory Wheel, all negative. Nothing to suggest what actually happened.

Some disturbing things are said around school, but it's not a 100% of the time type of thing. There's one kid in my Tax Class that thinks it is immoral to take a tax deduction (government must really be entitled to your money), the folks that gave me the cold shoulder after I put them in their place on the 2nd Amendment, critical race theory, critical gender theory, critical donkey rapping theory, it's all there. Did you know the Tax Code was sexist? My tax prof thinks so. Did you know David Horowitz, Anne Coulter, and other conservative commentators are fascists the Muslim prof I described above thinks so. Did you know that its a generally accepted fact that the constitution is a living breathing document?

While I'm glad I'm out of my undergrad (Georgia Tech) there's one good thing to be said about an engineering school. Ass kickings generally scare off the liberals, generally.

But in the end a few folks do get through the cracks at Emory including some people who have worked on GCO legal work (one you might say is a very critical member :)). I have some really good friends who are staunchly conservative or libertarian; we just kind of band together and do our best to piss off who we can.

Viper - apologies. Surely I'm being general about the student body and I don't want to offend people such as yourself who are on the front lines. I would never want to associate you with that ilk. :) Though from your post I get the feeling that you generally agree with me that Emory boils down to a Leftist think-tank.

If there are some conservatives at Emory I'd like to meet up at Saba sometime. :) Start, like, a support group or something for wayward rationalists.
